Been up since 5am with a pup....noooo it's my day off ! It's still dark outside , I think we disturbed a possum when we went out into the garden as something ran very quickly up the tree. I'm watching Strictly ( first time in 4 years )

Saturday pleasures....well I was at work, we were kept busy and thankfully , although warm it wasn't as hot as it will be today, it's a tiny space and with ovens and grills and hobs on it gets very hot, so the pleasure was being there Saturday and not Sunday :)

I've got a whole pumpkin for Halloween! Mr Boss was going to market for me, for work as he does every Saturday, did I want anything, could I have a pumpkin, pay you when you get back......don't worry about it.....I've not had a Halloween pumpkin since 2009! They are quite an expense whole as we pay by the kilo. None of your cheap £1 pumpkins over here.

We managed to raise $140 in first two days of charity collection , hopefully we can make a bit more on Sunday . I'd love to make $200. Some horrid scumbag stole a $20 note straight out of the jar. I hope their need was greater than the charity's .

Came home and puppy dog had his new big boy collar on :) I can't believe how much he has grown in a month.

Went out for some food with OH, neither of us had eaten all day so really enjoyed our meal. I'd chicken involtini with sweet potato mash and asparagus ( love asparagus) , he'd sword fish.

Popped into supermarket for ice cream for pudding!

Then went to bed...was absolutely knacked! I've got a bit of a sore back thing going on, back keeps going into muscular ( I think , rather than bony) spasm, leaving me quiet breathless when it happens...as in pain takes my breath away rather than struggling to breath) when I saw podiatrist last week he put some inserts in my shoes to take pressure of the metatarsals that were so sore and to change how I stand in my foot and I think whilst foot not so sore this has obviously changed my gait and posture line and back is complaining about it....that's my self diagnosis anyway :)

Today's to be a hot one, so I think I will get as much done as possible this morning before it gets uncomfortable .

Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)
  • 1. Breakfast was lovely some rtc what is labelled as bottom of oven rolls, 4 at 6p just with an egg in were lovely, lunch was also a freezer rtc collectable of hawian pizza for 35p
    2. I felt a tad bit sheepish as I took the cat food vouchers along as we had 6 of them but very worth it 6 bags of 400g food just hope he doesn’t like them too much at 4.20 a bag.
    3. DH remembered and well I didn’t we met 14 years ago, and got engaged 11 years ago today, awwww, we are volunteering tonight at a festival of light and fireworks display but get to watch a fireworks display and some free food for the volunteers.
    4. Ate some food out at a errr takeaway, that I am regretting already a lot and have a funny feeling I will regret tomorrow… ah well that’s life/living.
    5. Enjoying the mild weather.

Didn't get to post last night as I had an invitation to the theatre, something I'd not seen before and found it rather long and tedious as did the company I was in. However...

    1. Although the production wasn't exactly as I'd imagined it was an evening out with three lovely friends, and another programme to add to the many I've collected over the last few years.
    2. DD, DSiL and DGD3 came today, he was going to put up my curtain rail but there was a bit missing grrr. Will change it tomorrow for a complete set. Lovely to have them here, DGD3 asked if we could 'do' the cs's in the coming week as it's half term. I feel very blessed that a 17 y/o wants to go OS shopping with Grandma :)
    3. Gave them a loaf just out of the bm to take home, SiL wanted to eat some now so I gave him a buttered slice to eat as they drove home. He's just a big kid, like most men ;)
    4. Spent a couple of hours in the garden this afternoon as it was sunny and calm, and I needed to spray a small chandelier. I tied it to the washing line and sprayed it to match my bedroom, it was cream and gold when I bought it from a cs, I painted it white with a brush unsuccessfully, so sanded it down again and have now sprayed it green. At last it looks just right! It cost £4, plus £9 for the paint, a similar one in the shops is £69.99 so quite an OS bargain. I also planted 4 more trays of winter flowering pansies, cyclamen and primroses, a standard rose and transplanted a twig of euonymus which had broken off the main bush and had now outgrown the little pot I stuck it in. Literally, I had no great hopes of it doing anything but it's grown from 6" to over a foot and has several leaves on it. Sadly I have no room left for a single thing so where I'm going to plant the shrub rose and pyracantha sitting in their pots waiting for a new home goodness only knows!
    5. DS and his OH have invited me for the C-word, will have to confirm with the dog sitter but have tentatively accepted. When I told DGD3 this morning she looked very crestfallen and said it's not a proper family Christmas if I don't go to them :(. Lovely to be wanted by both my offspring, just wish they all lived a little closer. Sometimes :D

    Sweet dreams :)

A late entry cos one of the dogs is poorly and 2 of the family have just taken him to the vets while 2 of us stay with the other one. Pets are such a worry!
    1) lie in saturday hooray
    2) forgot to take bags to l!dl but lo and behold someone had left a huge sports bag in our trolley so, since we had the car, we used that and the rest in loose
    3) dd1 taught me to make sushi. Yum yum
    4) went to event at dundee literary thing - discussion on fiction and how it engages us cognitively
    5) met up with dd2 and ds who were clothes shopping. I bought a pair of boots and a jumper in the sale
    6) waved goodbye then, since i had 90 mins before dinner with friends bought a coffee and went to uni library to read my book. They have sofas in the quiet area so kicked off new boots and put my feet up. Bliss
    7) dinner fab, then off to one friend's house where more wine was imbibed. Sadly ended with one rather opinionated lady drinking a little too much and showing her true colours re the english. But up till then really good evening. And then of course the phone call from home re the dog. He was full of energy and not a choky cough to be heard when i got home but they've taken him anyway. His bro looks delighted to be the only dog in the house!
    8) luton is top of the table

Bro's sixth sense probably means all is well, I hope. Emergency vet in early hours, ouch, hope you have pet insurance! Though at the time, the cost is not the first thought.

    1. Had coffee with a friend - we both needed a chat and catchup.

    2. An enjoyable conversation with lady at post office.

    3. Taking lunch into work every day.

    4. Still managing to reduce the amount of meat we eat.

    5. Went to see Fury at cinema - not sure whether I enjoyed it but managed to get 45%off ticket price with O2.

    6. Managed to unblock a basin in bathroom - it will now drain quickly.

dd hope pup is okay today?

Well, we are just back in from a visit to the police station. DD2 who is 14, was approached by a guy whilst walking across the library carpark at 6pm tonight, not appropriate behaviour, we live about 2 minutes away and OH drove straight up to get her, we reported it to the station police and then went to the police. She is very upset and thankfully no harm done and it's been reported and hopefully gets dealt with .

    Prior to this.....

Started my day with a bath and then casualty as it was on in UK.

Toast! My weekly bread allowance with peanut butter at usual Sunday cafe.

Did aldi shop for work and dropped it off.

Dropped in some UK magazines to swap box at library.

Sat in garden, sat in porch, lay on sofa in porch may even have had a snooze on sofa in porch. Started my new book.

Made a pumpkin and Parmesan tart for dinner which was very nice.

10 layers of filo pastry ( melted butter brushed on between layers)

1/2 cup sour cream mixed with an egg and 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan .
    Put on base of tart.

Add slices of roasted pumpkin / sliced red onion/ pumpkin /onion until tart base is filled. Top with fresh thyme and 180o for 20 minutes.

Delicious!served with salad ! DD1 made a plum filled tart with rest of pastry for pud.

    Almost time for bed!

New land speed record set, downhill, wind assisted. Not legal then. Breathe.

Now a Brief Encounter, guess where, and real tea and breakfast is served.

    And more steam.

PM2DD. We are still in tin pot competition.

It's so unfair :(. Everybody gets an extra hour in bed except me because I only had enough milk for one cuppa this morning so drank lots of juice yesterday evening. The result, you can guess but it didn't mean staying in a warm cosy bed!!!
    ;)

Loved the film, loved the venue, will you and Bopsie be playing Alec and Laura over your cup of tea, speedy BoP?
DD hoping everything is well with the doglet, thinking of you
mhags your poor DD, how frightening. Thank goodness she was so close to home. No doubt lots of cuddles have helped her settle down.
villagelife well done for not having to call a plumber, it's surprising what we can do and shocking what they charge! Pleased you had time for coffee with your friend, we need take time out to breathe occasionally
Back later with 5, having a reasonably quiet day so they'll all be little pleasures but pleasures nonetheless

Hope the day goes well for everyone :)
