Welcome and welcome and welcome back, dear chicken!

More putah-limp today AND burgered landline last night. France was trying to call.
Didn't work.
Off to byes, Spits soon calling.
dfv - lovely to read that everyone is mending - you take care too. This will have been a big drain on maman.
'Does jewellery replace soft toys for reassurance over time?!' - that's a rather true thought.
Some pud bop! - so, that's chicken's[you tempted her out]. Where are all of ours?

Pleasures must be postponed for byes, but I am eyeing up a meeting between Raffles, of this parish, and Finn, newly so.....quite a match, je soupçonne:-)

Grate, one hot of radio silence. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Chick is back. Yipeeeeeeeeeeeee0 -
Yay! Chicken is back, Chicken is back! WELCOME BACK!
From Chicken to Wild Geese this is the Violet Jacobs poem 'Norlan' Wind' set to music by Jim Reid. DD's post about wild geese a week ago reminded me of it. Originally I posted a different version, then I found this one by Jim Reid, the composer; it really needs to be sung in dialect, which this version is. I prefer the version of Babs at our live music club though, as she sings it both in dialect and with expression. Mhagster may like this, so may any other exiles passing through.
1. Horses, horses, horses. Will try and post some pics from visit.
2. Dr C. discovering that he can do housework too.
3. Sending a parcel of manufacturer freebies to Sis. I cannot give away what Am@zon give me, but manufacturer freebies have no such restriction. A fleece, an umbrella and various bits to do with mobiles and tablets.
I have more goodies en-route too.
4. Making a muffin in a mug in the microwave. I made a bacon and cheese one which was a bit of a faff, but looking forward to trying more.
5. Visits to friends and from friends. Some lovely time spent in company.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
A chicken returns to the nest, that makes me very happy :j. Time to celebrate! _party_
BoP it was a super film, very funny and very warm. Thank you for suggesting it
Sweet dreams0 -
Awh chicken is back in our coop!
Sitting outside listening to the collared doves, blackbirds, minahs, and chirpy lorikeets....doglet is mooching around ..up to no good probably!
The roses in the garden ,of which there are many, have all of a sudden just this week came in to bloom and at beautiful. We are fortunate that the previous owners who lived here for 50 years, planted so many beautiful plants and flowers, the trees have just all of a sudden became fresh green again after winter look lovely, my peas ( had to replant after dog ate the first ones!) and pumpkin seeds are coming through, my salad wheelbarrow is growing nicely and carrots are coming along nicely, we've had our first crop of radishes , potatoes are doing well and finally my rhubarb is starting to thrive after a very slow start.
It's been a warm couple of days , very humid yesterday but fresher feeling today....went to work without a cardigan on at 6.30am!
Work has been fine. Slight disagreement with a customer first thing, insisting he had an account with us and when I said we don't do accounts for customers got stroppy and said that's what we keep saying! Took his number, spoke to boss, she hadn't a clue so called him back, he was adamant that he was allowed one but I asked him to come in and settle his bill, please and thank you! Had another rude customer yesterday who seems to think its funny to take the p!ss out of my accent each time he's in....if it was done in a nice way , I might even smile but he's just rude about it! I very calmly kept talking as I took his order, inwardly thinking rude g!t! However, on the whole, our customers are lovely and they fill my day with their chat and news and occasional gossip!
Friday / Saturday and Sunday , I've organised a fundraising event in memory of the girl who worked with us , who earlier this year took her own life. The charity that her family chose to support, email me as I donated to them. They are having ' Big Blue Bashes' to raise funds, so we are holding one this weeksend and donating our tips to the charity, I bought helium balloons, today and we will all wear blue to work. Hoping to raise a decent amount but every little helps.
Finished early ( ish) today and didn't have too long to wait for the train, went into Salvos on way home and got 3 dresses and a top .3/4 had 50% off so quite pleased with my haul. We have a few 'do's' from next month to Christmas and the dresses will be perfect for them. Then as I came in back garden , I saw our new next door neighbour ( her back door at our veg patch) so had a quick chat with her which was nice.
Went into local cafe and was a lady what lunches...all by myself. Did offer to feed DS but he didn't want to come, so I sat with the paper and chatted back and forth with the staff, who are all very friendly. I had their absolutely lovely pumpkin and feta quiche with salad and a slice of caramel slice. Yummy!
Rescued my son from puppy duty. He had sent me a photo earlier of the dog and a ball the dog had found in our fernery, so he was quite happy with his new toy and I was happy that my son had thought to take a photo and send it to me.
Had a nice phone call with friend from Sydney, nice to catch up with her.
My DD has finished school ..well all except going in for exams over next few weeks. Yesterday's theme was 'back to the future' so she was her 11 year old self finishing primary school. Can't quite chuck out her uniform yet as she needs to wear it for exams but will not be sad to see those awful shoes and socks go! She's ready to move onto the next stage of life....now if only she would tidy up her bedroom.....
I have a whole day off tomorrow which I'm quite excited about. Not too much planned other than taking diggidy dog for his vaccines. I must declutter, I have some more stuff to go to Salvos and just glad to be off....wonder if I can go a day without any phone calls from work?
Have a lovely day0 -
dfv your posts are amazeballs. Am now listening to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxcM3nCsglA
chicken welcome back
mcc got back last night and geese were flying over the car as we unpacked. monster mash having now finished am listening to Jim Reid. "For there's muckle lyin 'yont the Tay that's mair tae me nor life." yes meeeee
All the best with your fundraising mhags sorry to hear about stroppy customers.
For yesterday while I have a tea break
1) Set off from sister's at 10:05, only 5 mins after we planned. Mum noisily disagreed with Stan the Satnav. Texted sister to say we were bringing mum back to hers - she replied she'd moved :rotfl:
2) Lunch at Tebay. Saw very nice nutcracker themed crackers £15 for 8. Have decided on nutcracker theme for xmas (and no i didn't buy the crackers - we will be making our own)
3) Tea stop at Abington and a stretch of legs. Round Glasgow before the rush hour hooray
4) Home to 2 loopy dogs and dd1 who has done sterling work clearing rooms in preparation for windows man who is due to start end of next week. Exciting!
5) did day 1 of couch potato to 5k in 9 weeks. Don't have an ipod so did it using lampposts instead - 5 mins warm up then 20 mins alternating walking and jogging between lampposts. Hmm think it was more like 30 seconds jog but I am soooo unfit that was probs a good idea!
And now back to work and 772 emails, now down to 607. Time to get rid of the next batch.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pluck On!
ChickenPolas is back. Now, need I say more about this thread, expect it puts us all in the same leaky boat that bobs along the shore. Imagine being on Hols and all you could think about was food po*n! Now that is what BoP is four, as Sparra found out last night with some entertainment. I am here to live my life, and I will live it! And for those that missed the entertainment, please, when BoP offers yous more than those self-ingratiating shows and grief previews, if yous want to laugh. Read on. Oh, and Sparra, when the film Kenny is on, I will give you and the rest of you lot another budge.
5 Just listened to the news and an emporium has not made its filthy fingers as rich as they could had done. Good. Now if they had continued to buy local products, instead of cheap other stock, then .. Keep the boycott up. Avoid ATSM. Local Tiger fuel plaice is now 7 pennies cheaper than T and a fill a week means I save, 28 pennies over the month without them getting a penny. To get close to this on a fill would cost £500, £375 more a month than I do, to get 20 pennies on one! But a bit of a rant now, local W8rz has been idolised and Londonised. Seems to think we all want nitro food, quick grab it, run, eat snack, eat run no stop. Look, it takes 30 minutes for me to eat my lunch, and that is what I will take. Oh dear, off BoP we go. Now I am on the subject of force feeding on the run, did I mention foam drinks recently? I as you … yarn yarn yarn bloody yarn. No, stop, tea biscuit. No chicken, hey she’s back :heartpuls no chicken like cubed substance in tomato type sauce and rice for lunch today, as BoP feasted on mega gorilla sized mixed grill last evening with BoPsie. Snake, Chick Beast, snorker, gammon, fresh eggs, onion rings, mushroom tomato and chips. Rubs tum, proud!
4 Watched another classic from the best Shakespearian actor to play Hamlet in the 1920’s, the late John Laurie, in the Edge of the World. About a Scottish isle, or could be any remote community in that era. Quite enlightening for the day. Especially when daughter has baby out of wedlock. And the laird on his visit, ensuring that the isle’s goods are collected and sold.
3 Club of the Camera this evening, and is competition night. As the projectionist of bets repute, should hopefully be a breeze for BoP. May even delight myself to a wobbleade as well.
2 Now, today at the Salt Mine winding house, the sweeteners have arrived. No, as you should all know, I am susceptible to bribes, the bigger, the better. Cross my palm with silver and you yourself shall be rewarded. Forget what you may hear on some media outlets about these back handed activities and be thankful for those who can enrich your life. Colleague has bought in bag of goodies, and the Parma Violets are exceptional! On exceptionals, have you noticed that all summer, the light in the small room was always good. Come this morn, and the light, where BoP does his grooming and checks his chest hairs, has decided to give up the ghost. Now as it is an energy saving money extortion type, warning contains mercury, variant, of over twelve years, I shall enquire at the environmental department of our council for advice on its safe disposal. Going to be interesting!
Oh, they did not tell you that when you thought on passing the windmill!
1 Careful what is dumped into the playground, as the children may not like it!
Off nows, as BoPsie has to pack her toys for the weekend. Yes, we are going away again and I will be steamed! Look out on Saturday, as we may be live!0 -
Jack Monroe's cookbook has arrived,
I've already tried a recipe and reviewed the book - review is here if anyone is interested.

Others
Saved 7p a litre on petrol at the co-orp (as my MiL pronounces it)

A lovely phone call from DD - they had done a "life story" stint in one of her lectures and she said she hadn't realised how awful some people's lives could be. She phoned us to say "thank you" for not effing her up (despite Philip Larkin's assertions) and that she loved us all the more
Getting through my elephant bite by bite
Excellent parents' evening at DS school. Potentially he could get a couple of A's, which we weren't expecting - but he will have to work
Did a baking session on Tues - I do love to bake. Proper lemon drizzle, with sugar and everything. Some yummy biscuits (just banana choc chips and oats), and some sweetie things - a bit like bounty.
Back on my 5:2 today - it's been easy.
