I'm sorry bop - won't wheel out Dr Pangloss; too raw and disappointment too new atm. It's certainly notable that competent and overly qualified peeps are being shoe-horned out to lower salary bills in quite a few fields of &'s acquaintance, one of which cloaked in recent &post.

    - and your 1 is very true too:-)

p.s. How do you get so much leave granted by Raffles? Do you have to sign in/out/on/off?

    Emergency fund 700.00
  • Oh, & Raffles has many admirers and is always looked after. Like his name, he can get in anywhere.
  • BOP just coming out of lurkdom to say 'oh' - their loss. I was wondering when you would hear or if I'd miss it.

Mhags so sorry re. dd2. My dd was in a similar situation and its heart breaking. Could dd have some time with you at home - perhaps both of you could support each other and then be ready to go and face the world. I hope it all comes good, school is really such a short time in our life but when its miserable it seems to last forever.

Popping off now, but good wishes to everyone - I am always lurking about just for now. :)

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    1) Scrummy HM apple cake from a colleague who had been on holiday to a cottage with an orchard, from which guests are encouraged to pick as many apples as they like. :money:

    2) Lovely yellow stuff, even if I only saw it through the office window for most of the day.

    3) Took some LO pasta bake to work for lunch and it was just as tasty cold.

    4) Isis charging around with her favourite toy ball again.

Four's not bad for a Monday!
Back after a very long break!

Sorry to hear the bullying is continuing, Mhags. :-(

Glad the card thing is being sorted out, PK, but a nuisance for you.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) 2.5 hours on the allotment! Dug over 2 beds completely and weeded a 3rd (there are 5 big ones).

    3) Took from the allotment today: 30 tomatoes, 10 cucumbers, lots of tomatoes, a large courgette and 2 butternut squashes.

    4) Popped to Sainsburys and had lunch there.

    5) Went swimming with my brother.

    6) Did some more work on dad's family tree.

    7) Had tea at mum and dad's then stayed to watch Uni Challenge.

    8) Going to be a late night tonight as I've just started making some more chutney!

    9) Whilst chutney boils, watching Peep Show and drinking tea.

Others have reported pages hanging and not posting and my pleasures did that earlier too.
So... take 2. Completely different to the earlier ones apart from #1/
    1. Dr C. using something I was sent that I couldn't find a use for and had to review, go, Dr C.
    2. Learner has told me that he was told off the record he had passed a test, hopefully I can claim for him this month.

    3. Just bought Allegra McEvedy's cookbook, Economy Gastronomy, which had mixed reviews, for 1p plus postage. I love these penny bargains from Am@zon. If it's a patch on her partner's it'll be great.

    4. Dr C. was hunting for some missing aftershave and unearthed a missing spare light for the trike. I had thought I'd attached it and it had fallen off outside, so this was rather good. The trike himself is still in for repairs.

    5. Painkillers worked well. Phew.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    mse wouldn't work yesterday @ &post-hour.
Posting early today as wiki Donation reminder popped up on banner when & was checking sth, so:

    1. is £10 donation to Wiki, despite all the sneers and jeers it receives. I use it, am grateful for it, can evaluate its info. and decide whether or not to do more with it.

    2. Have been enjoying slow-cooker oxtail stew at consecutive munchtimes. It's sooo good - one of 2 bags rtc<emporium.

    3. Late-ish to MrT, where 4 abandoned 'off next shops' for 12p, 16p, 27p, and £6.87 reduced shopping to £1.24, this time including bleach twice forgotten for neighbour.

    4. Dentist spoke about OralB leccie toothbrush last time - v.g. for & and older dents, said she. Doubt she's on commission. Not keen on more 'appliances'; prefer elbow grease, but it does seem in matters toothy this might do a job. Checking out at Mr T, vouchers in mind, nice Mgr lady said, 'Wait a fortnight. You may find they're going down to half-price...:-)'.
    I will.

    5. Major concerns re: previous bird with broken wing have resurfaced. Have been onto this since Friday. Several years of prev.&posts refer, not openly, so... Pleasure can only be that several good people are all concerned and I will try and do more today. Gumment policies have much to answer for and worse is on way, with ukip agenda playing up fear and tabloid xenophobia.

alternative 5. Looking out with no.2 cuppytease at tour de france windmill whizzing round, meaning last night's moonlit-pegged laundry is billowy dry. Retrieving as soon as i-player News Quiz ends:-)

ss1000 - come back when you feel you can. Finding 5 osp's is a good exercise in our numpty world.
mhags - soft hugs to you and dd2. In case you'd like to, here's the scrummy choc beetroot fudge cake recipe that went down a storm at Church on Sunday[with &'s added cream cheese frosting on top]:
