Pleasures for today:
1) Got up at midday.
2) Made several jars of very good chutney. Cucumbers, tomatoes, red and white onions were off the allotment. Sultanas were not.
3) Went for a walk and picked a few kilos of sloes. In the freezer now.
4) My school friend came round for tea.
5) Made toad in the hole for tea. Didn't want to use the large pot with sons being away so made us 2 individual ones in my smallest loaf tins. They looked quite professional when they were turned out!
6) Watching Gogglebox now.
7) Did some work on dad's family tree (I'm doing it for his 70th birthday next month).0 -
DD I'm so pleased the furpet is home, wishing him a speedy recovery
CCP (((hugs))) hope work has settled down when you get back
chicken pleased to hear tiny terrier is well, you've got yourself something bigger as well? Hope the OGV is going strong
1. After my early start I sat in the garden with my first cup of tea well wrapped up in my thick towelling robe. Me, not the tea, that is. It was a pleasure to listen to the wind rustling through the leaves and see the furries playing together while I sat in the sheltered corner of the patio, at the end of October
2. I opened all the windows to give the house a good airing. Had to wedge all the bedroom doors to stop them banging, didn't want to wake the neighbours even if I was up at silly o'clock!
3. Prepped my dinner before I went out to meet friends at lunchtime. It was nice come back and just have to put it in the oven. I made enough for two days, always happy to have a roast. I had two mini lamb shoulders, one of which I had today, the other for another time and will put a pork fillet with tomorrow's dinner.
4. Called into @ldi for bread flour and some seeds. Their flour and yeast make just as good a loaf as the more expensive brands at almost half the price. They also sell rf cheese now so I don't have to go elsewhere for it. A penny saved...
5. Bought a C-word present today, can't say what or for whom as 'they' sometimes read my posts, suffice to say it was one which was talked about but too expensive, and I got it in a 70% off sale. Very happy with that.
Sweet dreams0 -
1. Had a lovely weekend with both new friends and old
2. Have done quite a bit of planning for next term already, and feeling unstressed about the mountain I have to climb of assessment fodder!
3. HUGE cuddles with DD when I got back home
4. My favourite shower gel from C&evelyn on special offer, so have bought it for DD to give to me on C-day (I'll have forgotten about it by then!). She will also choose me some books for a complete surprise
5. Played a very rude but very funny game with new chums and have bought it for a fab friend who will appreciate it
6. Despite being caught in lots of traffic jams on the way home yesterday, I enjoyed the drive.
7. That blissful feeling when I woke up at silly o'clock this morning and remembered I didn't have to get up
8. DD snuggled beside me in bed, we're both on laptops - thank goodness for having one for work! She can watch HPotter to her heart's content whilst I faff about and do a bit of work0 -
Sore back thing going on just now so offspring were roped in to get dinner sorted tonight. Had burritos and very nice too.
Bit of a meltdown at work today , my DD2 is not very happy at the moment and was very unhappy that I was making her go to school today , she has really low self esteem, has a bullying biatch on her case and just quite miserable. I have made an appointment for her to see doctor tomorrow and hopefully we can get a referal to someone that can maybe help. Anyway, I had got a bit overwhelmed by it all today.....the off shoot is I'm getting the week off next week. I'm absolutely knacked having worked so many hours last 3 months so I'm looking forward to some me time off.
We had a tremendous night long storm and total chaos with the transport system so I had to drive today, which is a pain as I had to move the car 3 times in the carpark to avoid a fine. However it was nice just to drive straight home.
That's all I can think of, shall bank some more pleasures for another day
Just remembered an extra one, we raised $150 over the weekend for charity collection in memory of colleague , so I'm just about to donate that now. I'm delighted that our customers were so generous.0 -
mhags - I'm so sorry dd2 is STILL having that trouble. I thought school had taken a strong handle on it at some recent point and that this had helped.
Would you, or dd, possibly consider inviting Ms B. Arch[and parent at go-home time?] back for hospitality/homework, when you are there? De-railing can work for some. Bullies can be masking interest in/fascination for, Difference and Other. What's the culprit like scholastically? and pup will always be a great ice-breaker.
Enjoy your week off whichever way up:-)CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Chuff On!
5 Back in the winding house at the salt mine this morning, with refreshed lungs. Ozone friendly today, as we are not using up the resources as quickly today. Perhaps this is why the kids are on half term.
4 Miffed, totally miffed. But maybe previous salt mine did not want me back! Their loss, not BoP’s. Moving on.
3 Still, while we are at it, I got my creative eye back in shape at the weekend. And BoPsie, yeah she is on one of them photos, X marks the spot.
2 Now here is a tip. On FryDay, passing, and BoP was passing, it was raining on the M5 M6 car park as BoP sped northwards. Note, although Emily the Sat Nav recorded another land speed record, wind assisted, downhill, so not legal, he passed a small car, of mini type genre, with window open, in tipping down rain. Unfortunately, as BoP drew close, at speeds not in excess of 70 mph, there was a puddle to my left. So, advice from BoP. If it is raining, close the window!
1 Square hole, round peg. Actually makes better contact!0
