Morning all - am so crarp at updating this thread atm. Supposed to b working - even though it is my day off - but it is my day off so
to them
Sorry Mhags that DD is still having a horrid time. Enjoy your week off - sounds like you need it.
Frith - what news on bathroom? great haul from the allotme;nt
CCp - nice to see you back. LFS has gone missing too:(
Hello anyone new - i used to be a regular every day poster on this thread, but seem unable to update atm
Pleasures for last whenever.
OH and i spent most of saturday with a nice lady in the bath - room shop :rotfl: total price for 2 bathrooms £14,000 :eek: erm, i don't think so. "Oh" she said, "you need a bath filler. The matching one is £350" For bath filler, read "tap" and "yes, we do a cheaper one - £65" That'll do - couldn't tell the difference myself.
So we begin what us Quantity Surveyors call "value engineering" - what anyone else would call - "doing it cheaper". We have decided our own en-suite doesn't really need much doing after all. maybe some new bath fillersa bit of regrouting and a shower screen. New light. The main bathroom is going to be totally refurbed - but cheaper than the bath store prices.
We did manage lunch out in between bathroom designing and a quick walk. Saw a good film on Sunday night "Tracks" about Robyn Davidson's walk across Australia with 4 camels and her dog - bizarre but true.
Sunday saw us going out for the day with DS. As DS agreed to be seen out with us, it had to be something suitable for him. So we went to Frith country and had a ride on the steam train - the plan being a walk and sunday lunch in the pub. Best laid plans and all - due to late running trains and trains running on time when you dont want them to, (don't ask ) Sunday lunch in the pub, turned into "perhaps we can stop in Birmingham on the way home ad get something there" to "Haddock and chips at captain cod's":rotfl::p This was after OH said "the train will be ages yet, we've time for another half" to be followed by "here comes the train - neck it and run" . you would think I'd have learned by now....
Just as long as they know i am still owed......
Lovely long phone call from DD - so thrilled that she is happy and in her element. Going to stay on Saturday, student halls, takes me back.....
Work yesterday - tore the bu88ers off a strip. if they don't do the work, they won't get the grade. Enjoyed that!
Mushroom stroganoff on my 5:2 day. Absobloodylutely delish :T
ETA - got lots of compliments on my outfit yesterday - chelsea boots, leggings and a green woolly frock / tunic that was dirt cheap (£10 Joe Brown's sale) because i think they reckoned that no-one would ever wear it :rotfl:
have a good one allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Thanks for that recipe ampersand, my main colleague asked me today what will you do when you're off next week? Ooooooh, so much! Looking forward to baking and cooking for my family rather than customers! So might have a go at that cake . I shall garden and read and maybe read in the garden! I shall enjoy my doggy boy, be there to make breakfasts for those who want them , catch up with folks back home with phone calls and emails and letters to those who get them! 3 shifts to go!
Better frame of mind today, shame about the back! Was almost in tears at times with severe shooting pain, shall try and get a physio appointment tomorrow afternoon. I went for a Chinese massage at nearby shopping mall. Most malls have them, oh Lordy, it was so sore/ deep/ good/ bad/ intense/ aaaaaaargh all at the one time. I had only 15 minutes on my break and it would usually be 30 minutes for a back massage but she did it in 15.... 'Twas the longest quarter hour of my life! I've only ever had a relaxing massage done before however I think I may go back tomorrow as I finish earlier .
So I wore shoes that don't have inserts stuck in them to see if that made any difference and I walked like a normal person for the train this morning....no limps, no pain in foot. I really do think back pain is coming from change in gait, however, agony in metatarsals gone as I've had insert in place....
Worked with a new girl this afternoon..if she said 'cool beans' once more I was going to throttle her but I think she will be fine! Didn't get out as early as I would normally do but hey ho! She seems a bit of an eccentric character for one so young!
Took DD2 to see GP, the first time I've met this GP ( I'd just asked for a female doctor after 6pm) and she was lovely. We've to go back and see her next week and go through a referral process to see a psychologist for some extra help. Luckily I'm off and we can go on Monday.
DD1 starts her exams tomorrow , yikes! Such a different system to home, it all comes down to the final year 12 exams and the average percentage score that they get throughout the whole of Victoria. This percentage score , known as ATAR, determines which uni / TAFE ( like a technical college) course, they can get offered. There is so much pressure on them, from school, from themselves, possibly from parents. I just wish her good luck and lots of love as I know she's worked very hard . She has turned the dining room into a study zone...she is so untidy and has offended my sense of tidyness but it's only for a couple of weeks!
One of my colleagues sent me a text today to say she'd put me down as a personal reference for a house rental she's applied for ...felt quiet flattered!
Right it's my bedtime ...see if I can get into it tonight without it hurting too much! I'm such a big baby when it comes to being sore!
Have a happy Tuesday and thank you for your good wishes for DD2 xx it means a lot0 -
Push On!
5 The view from the square window this morning shows the yellow thing brewing well. Not at the salt flats this day, as working from home again. Things looking good, may just …
4 Just had BoPsie deliver a decent tart, and I am very impartial to a decent bit of curd. Well washed down with a cup of proper tea. As BoPsie does not like the curd, it means more for the caring and sharing BoP. Well they come as six, two of each. And if you don’t like it it BoP house, you lump it like the custard. Simple rule really. No fuss.
3 Camera Club committee meeting tonight, have to go into an emporium, but no worries, short arms and deep pockets. They’ll not get any of BoP’s pennies. Standard rules apply. I see the mega charities are under fire this mourning. And some emporium has declared a advertising free break on ogle box, As had been
2 I see the pension pot will provide granny holidays soon. Sits back and thinks words from Production Manager in 1978, apprenticed in Lincolnshire. CompNee has subsidised shop, decent canteen. Sport and Social Club, but as yous under 18, you’re not aloud in the bar. Never come to work in a new car as boss will think your paid too much. Oh, and Compnee has pension scheme, but if I were you lot I would not put a penny into it, because when you retire, there will be nothing left.

Afternoon
Sorry been MIA but have lots of pleasures for the last week.
1. Lovely couple of days away in the Isle of Wight with DD. Lots of fun had and places visited, really liked the Electric Woods. Such a nice atmosphere and great fun had.
2. Travelling around the island by bus, not the fastest but we got to see so much and it got us to everywhere we wanted to go.
3. DD and another young girl stopping a runaway car thus avoiding an accident and what would have caused a lot of damage to a charity shop. The car had been parked on a hill and the hand brake decided not to hold any more thus a slow roll into oncoming traffic. Some friendly builders stopped and chocked the wheels until Police turned up, though no sign of owner.
4. Night out in the IOW included a yummy meal deal at a posh burger restaurant for £10 each, would have cost at least £20 each local to us and the cinema to see a film for £3.50 each. We thought they had got the price wrong
5. After a low spending couple of days we changed all that with a shop till you drop day and night spent in Gunwharf Quays but we did have lots of fun.
6. Lovely Sunday lunch out with the inlaws to celebrate DD birthday. Also managed to get SIL there which was good as relations have been a bit frosty recently.
7. Finished our last day of annual leave yesterday with a fab spa day - paid for using clubcard vouchers. Hot stone massage was just bliss.
Hugs to all who need them.0 -

1. Spent the afternoon monkeying about with DD, bliss
2. Took a massive bag of stuff to a charity shop and came away with 3 mahoosive jigsaws for only £1!
3. DD and I will do 2 of the jigsaws then they will all go into school and hopefully be turned into awesome Christmas fete sellers by my class......will if we can follow the patterns I've found on Piinterest
4. Was woken up this morning by mummykins' SAD lamp that I've inherited in the hope that it will be more peaceful and hopefully keep me feeling chirpy this winter. Unfortunately I'd been awake for a couple of hours in the night and had left the bedroom light on when I fell asleep again, so I have no idea if the lamp was beneficial.....oops!
5. Cleared a load of rubbish and 'ooh I'd forgotten I had that' stuff out of my car. It was becoming a mobile dustbin/junk shop!
