For yesterday:
1) Took something back to a shop as I realised when I got home that it was past its use-by date, and got a refund and a free replacement. :T
2) Super cuddly Isis when I got home, although I don't know if it was because she missed me or because she hasn't got used to the clocks changing and wanted her supper!
3) Naughty, carbolicious dinner of steak pie, jp and baked beans.
4) A text message from a friend I haven't seen in a while asking if I'm OK.
And for today:
1) Nothing in the house for breakfast so I bought a bacon sarnie on the way to work.
2) Two ladies at work, obviously realising that I'm feeling rather lonely at my new desk, have started making an effort to include me in their conversations. :T
3) Thought that I'd run out of onions, which I need for dinner, then found a few red ones in an old veg box, which are miraculously still OK.
4) A glass of wine and good (free :money:) book on my kindle for this evening.Back after a very long break!0 -
NNNNNNNNNNNNnyyyyyyyyyyyyaaahhhh = fury.
Car boot won't open. Didn't find out until after 16h down at storage.
Have had to load up for Spits in dark and rain through passenger doors - total 'mare.
1. Just in, hwb primed for early Spits.
2. Will finish oxtail with more rtc sprouts any minute now.
3. Then I will need w9rz rtc choc cream choux bun for comfort, WON'T I?
4. Wonderful hr+ with Bonham's man. He has taken pics of certain things, need another 2 peeps' expertise. & now waits:-) Looks like one thing in particular promises super duper well. Some good reading from there includes a pertinent piece on Barbara Hepworth.
5. Did a bit of CS buying en route back to bus...on verra.
6. Called on a certain office to make myself known...all my disbelief and fears unfortunately horribly founded. Only this gumment could privatise this sort of work and turn it over to lcd companies: a complete and utter disgrace. Rant NOT over with regard to this.
7. The wisdom of this good man yesterday, his accurate view of our current world situation.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-29798434
When asked by the BBC what he made of today's world, Sir Nicholas responded: "I don't think we've ever learnt from the mistakes of the past...The world today is now in a more dangerous situation than it has ever been and so long as you've got weapons of mass destruction which can finish off any conflict, nothing is safe any more.''
Hopefully, at age 105, & too will still be making waves.

Bonne nuit.

Evening all
marking marking marking - if I see my name written as Mr VJsmum again, i shall scream
Skintos - good to see you back
Chicken - our OGV "Rufus" is due for renewal. OH goes through this whole procedure of "we have to go and see what we'd like next " and then this whole charade ensues, after which we get another OGV :rotfl:
Nice cake BoP, but as you know I am eschewing. I am seeking out a sugar free flour free version which I must trial soon. no icing though.
Pleasures for last 2 days
1. Ordered a rather daring frock off the bay of E - DD said it was "revolting" so it made up my mind to order it
2. OH was working from home yesterday so we went out for lunch to local farm shop. And then to the sofa warehouse and I think we have chosen a new sofa
3. Nothing funny in the markingbut i did turn into a bit of a marking machine and got through my Singapore batch.
4. We splashed out on fillet steak for tea - t'was bliddy lovely and made up for Captain Cods
5. Guinea pigs that were on loan were collected - alive
6. Lunch out again today - this time with bezzie to emaness
7. More marking - Sri Lanka this time. Nearly done. hong kong tomorrow - i do get about :rotfl:
8. Left over mushroom stroganoff for tea - just as nice as before. I had Restless legs after the last lot so we shall see if it happens again very soon
9. sourdough bread with fried egg for brekkie. Whilst i am eschewing, homemade sourdough every once in a while seems to be ok. I also like the house decision to move to real butter.
10. OH and DS going on their hols tomorrow. I will have the house to myself for 5 days - well, except going to see DD on Sat and Sun. I have booked for DD and i to go and see "Forbidden Broadway" on Saturday - it looks fun and the tickets were dirt cheap.
Have a good evening.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Evening all.
Sorry not to have posted for a bit - life has rather run away with me.
Both DSs are now away for a few days so I'm on my ownsome and it's really quiet.
All pleasures for today can be summed up in right now. Downstairs the house is all clean and put away. The chimney was swept and I've got the wood burner lit and it's chucking out the heat and I've had a soaky bath and am in my jamas and slippers and drinking cocoa and eating toast and catching up on bits and pieces on R4 player. How lovely is all that?!
&, I've been reading all the Nicholas Winton stuff as well. I found this which contains a bit more from the excerpt from the Esther Ranzen programme from 1988 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6FlMLyf0yk which is very moving.
Sweet dreams

Well today vjsmum i have been dr susie
do you get to go to singapore and sri lanka?
& pooey car boot
1) gbf's fast day which means he brings round the soup. Normally it's posh but today it was mr 57's cream of tomato. Cant remember the last time i had it, such a wonderful comfort food
2) not doing the 5-2 myself, i was easily persuaded to share a fisher donaldson fudge donut with smbf (straight male best friend)Omg the best fudge donuts in the world
3) skype group call with pondicherry, dean of med school, business dev manager and college internationalisation lead. Guess who's got an invite to land of pi grin grin
4) dd2 and d1 came picked me up cos dd2 needed her birth certificate scanned
5) watched dr who with 2 loopy spaniels sparko on the sofa with me. Girls have gone to edinburgh this evening as dd2 has interview tomoz (fingers crossed) and have just posted on fb they are missing the dogs. Note parents only missed when money gets tight rofl
And a pleasure which is not mse but total bliss. Windows man arrived today. We have 4 new upvc sash windows installed, not a scrap of mess, another 14 and a door to go. A friend's sil owns the business and so far very impressed by price, total lack of hard sell, efficiency and lack of disruption.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Just a quick update as smaller son is completely over excited and calling me upstairs every 3.5 seconds.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) House tidy!
3) Sons back. :-)
4) Went swimming with sons and my brother. Bigger son decided to cycle there (through rain - it has rained ALL DAY without a second's break!) Smaller son and I put the Guy in the car, in bigger son's seat... Guy wears bigger son's old clothes. Brother gets in other back seat of the car, chats to me a bit, thinks bigger son is a bit quiet. Then notices bigger son's legs are at very weird angles, shoved under the driver's seat! Cue "Argh" of shock!
5) Tasty tea.
6) Other builder came round to inspect the state of the bathroom. It took him an hour to make a list of everything that is wrong with it and it will take £1600 to put right. He's going to write a report and email it to me which I have to send in a carefully worded letter recorded delivery to original builders.
7) Pretty much packed for Paris.
8) Sons did a couple of pumpkins as we won't be here on Hallowe'en.0 -
Just checking in briefly, got another ci, first of the winter, not that it's properly arrived yet.
1. Luckily I always keep a spare course of anti-b's etc., so no need to bother the gp.
Muttley has a skin prob, due I think to him having some different 'treats' which have turned out not to be. He's so sensitive to so many foods, I have to be really careful what he eats. So a bath in He@d and shouldas for him, trimmed back where the bad patches are (he looks a bit moth-eaten now) and massaged olive oil in. Made him 2 trays of meat/biscuits for dinners - he gets far better treated than I do -
2. then we were both so tired after 'our' exertions that we both slept all afternoon.
The weather has been horrid all day, and it's still raining
3. but the water butt is full, the bedding planted at the weekend is thriving and the grass is green
Really fancied some porridge for tea but I didn't have any, but
4. my lovely neighbour asked if I wanted any shopping as she was going for herself, so I've had a bowl of porridge for supper. Made with water, dried fruit and cinnamon, no sugar, honey or other sweet additives, for those porridge afficionado's among us
5. Tomorrow's plan is to put together the carpet shampooer, I've tried several times to understand the destructions that I've packed all the parts back into their box. This time I think I've grasped it, and I will do it!
Wasn't that difficult to find 5 after all. Sweet dreams0
