5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1. Mummykins and I went out for a scrumptious lunch at a new to us restaurant yesterday. I now have a new favourite place
2. DD is out at a party until 9pm so I have lots of time to plan a week of maths/procrastinate.....
3. I made the most of the BPeople's 15% off code today (see their home page) and bought tons more books - and went via TCashback
4. Went for a lovely haircut and used a 20% discount voucher, which made it just expensive rather than eyewateringly so!
5. DD came with me and gave me a nice hand massage and lots of cuddles - and then was very excited to be given her own foot massager to enjoy whilst I was having my hair cut
6. Lots of cuddles with DD today. I'm such a lucky kitty0 -
Pleasures for yesterday:
1) Got to leave work early as I had an appointment at the bank...
2) ...with a very nice man - the appointment took about three times as long as it should have done as we were so busy chatting.
3) Forced myself to go the pub quiz, which I haven't felt like doing in weeks, and actually quite enjoyed it.
4) My quiz team won the half-time question, came second overall, and then a team member won the bonus question as well - I think they were glad to have me back!
And for today:
1) Quiet day at work ('quiet' in the sense of peaceful, as there was hardly anybody in the office, rather than in the sense of 'no work to do' which is normal for me).
2) Made a start on a ghost story for a competition in the local paper - I haven't done any serious writing in years, so it will be interesting to see how that turns out.
3) Chatting to a lovely NZ lady in the supermarket (of course NZers are all lovely).
4) No more going to work for two days. :j:j:j (Can you tell I've come to really hate my job?)
5) A$da takeaway counter pizza for dinner.
For anyone who's interested - I got some more vouchers in my latest Abel & Cole veg box, for a free box for someone who's never tried them before. PM me if you'd like one.Back after a very long break!0 -
1. The carpet shampooer didn't even get out of its box yesterday, nor did it today. The pleasure is I haven't lost my temper over it!
2. As the only one of us not working I spent this morning searching for and booking travel insurance for 5 separate people. I'm surprised at the difference in cost for one person just 3 years older than another, both under 60, but they didn't complain as mine was almost as much as the other four added together! Not going til next June but it's one less job to do. Now to find cheap car parking...
3. A friend came in for tea this afternoon, I was pleased she was impressed at my Stollen as she's German. I did admit it was bought in a German market though
4. Hung out my Hallowe'en friendly banner this afternoon and opened my door several time to the local kidlets, all sensibly accompanied by parents. They managed to get rid of a box of lollipops and two trays of biscuits before the doorbell stopped ringing. And every one said thank you without being prompted. There were some very inventive outfits including one little dot in a pumpkin!
5. Door and windows open, wearing a summer top and trousers, even at 9.30pm it's 23c in my kitchen. They were right, it's been the hottest Hallowe'en on record. Luverly.

Evening
Posting on phone so sorry for any mistakes
Yesterdays pleasures
1. Visited another site yesterday which just happened to be close to kings cross station. It meant i could resolve a couple of jobs as onsite to do it.
2. Giant poppy at kings cross station and the forces choir singing was lovely to see and hear while waiting for train
3. Managed to get a much earlier train than expected and get a seat thanks to knowing the short cut to the train and which carriage to find a seat in when no reservation
4. Getting to spend a few hours with my DB just chatting. He also cooked dinner for me, he was a chef for many years and is an amazing cook. We had the bezt risotto i have ever eaten.
5. Washed dinner down with a glass or two of champagne (he owns a champagne bar)
Today
1. Lovely scenery in the cleveland hills even if occassion was sad
2. Weather was dry and bright even if a bit breezy on the hills
3. Lots of lovely memories shared about a truely lovely man.
4. Lots of doggy cuddles and walks with parents dog. He is terrified of fire works so walks were part of the plan to try to calm him.
4 is not bad for today. I love this thread as it makes you see the good even on days when you think there are none.0 -
1. Lovely warm day and spent most of the day in the garden and started building a wall.
2. Washing dried on line.
3. I felt relaxed all day (I don't work Fridays perhaps this has something to do with it)even with two trips to the station to pick up DS2 and drop off DS1. Always a good chance to talk to them.
4. Long chat with my sister.
5. Watching my chickens.
5. Walking with my dog.0 -
Suddenly, what was £3 is now 75p!
Happy Satdi.
5 Yes, and BoP has bin feasted and wattttered. Snorker, bacon, mushrooms, poached egg, toast and SPAGYETTI, washed down with tea, and toast, with a new jar of full seeded Raspberry jam.
4 Last night watched the Chase, USA. How different to our dumbed washed up offering. Tried to find another Aussie serial, but none to hand. Oggle box valves have hut down again, their cathodes are cold.
3 Had room of mush curry last night. Home maid of curse. With special toe nailed onions, peppers and raisins. Wholesome goodness. Rubs tum. Just had tum turn into UTM. Morning DD. boPsie as her pennies on you!
2 Had a wobbleade as I tried to find out whe the film Paddington is on. BoPsie Chrombo treat that. So looked in paper nd interesting note from MSf. Their policy is no one in their organisation gets paid more than three times the lowest paid. Before some Buerk turned up in 1984, they were the ones on the ground as we tossed the crate out of the back. Did you read that Bob?
1 You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life. wc
Emergency Edit
Emporium has writ to me, T. Last time they writ, they wanted me to spend £40 a week to save £3! Vouchers on fire.
Voucher is £2. Just rung their unhelpful line, we cannot boost it!! Cocoa it is, as we have another voucher for 50p off.
All them Tiger fuel points are adding up. T spend this year, <£10.
Pleased emporium, which has failed, does not get their filthy fingers rich on us!
Note to Readers.
Our shop at rzW8, on SunDi, we get £5 off every week as we has voucher for papier. And a decent cup of tea as well. Now, keep off them foam drinks this weekend!
Emergency Edit 2
Faved shop, rzW8 has emailed, personally, BoPsie. She has £3 off, 50 pennies more that the emporium that has failed, £10 of fish and meat. Snorkers it is, best plaice in BoP's tum. Rubs tum!0 -
Big catch-up read.
En route[and not in order] - Chicken, makes a change for your new boy to be rushing to DM's conservatory, when her chap's mode has long been to sneak over to you. Manky back nasty - go easy.
ccp - #26103, no. 3. OF COURSE!:-))))))))))))
bop - & uses that big black bit often. Total agreement. Raffles continues to live up to his namesake's reputation. Even in combine-function as Bunny, you and Lady bopsie are not up to full measure of R. we are glad to see.
frith - great Paris glories. More, more more - s'il vous plaît:-) Did sons[and you, of course] enjoy their croissants, REAL baguettes etc.etc. ce matin?
Thank goodness for REAL builder - hoping good quick well-supervised re-build follows, at no cost to you.
broomstick - thankyou so much for that YT link to Sir Nicholas Winton. Have just watched.
mcculloch - good trike news. I feel for you re:bullet biting/mechanics - same awaiting as Mon a.m. to fenboys - again - for 'why won't boot open please' time. It won't be free. BUT Molesworth - aah, yes, absolutely agree.
vjm - girly w/e and Forbidden Broadway sounds like excuse/occasion for IR shoes[tealady to mentor].
sparrer - same porridge formula ici, sans cinnamon, but might try.

1. Slowish Spits, for most, it seemed, meant no. 2. End of day loading through those wretched passenger doors is so slow, arduous, heavy, difficult - just horrible. Pleasure was young[and v.pretty] boy B, extraordinary character at same loading stage[he with big van]. 'Just going in for last run, B' said &, emerging backwards from rear of estate, only to see him there, beaming, saying 'Done!'. He'd brought that last load out for me. Lovely, lovely fella. He is such a great trier, marvellous attack and views on Life - wonderful to see In One So Young etc.etc. Admits all his mistakes and defects and just keeps smilling, charming, tigger-bouncing and working very, very hard.
2. So, with more kindness, this time from M.[another generosity on his part:spaces are hens' teeth], & followed B to safe lane, parked up o/n for Bermondsey, 0400h start after brief MrT Surrey Quays stop for basics. A beautiful yellow thing day. Even when table breakdown happened early mid-arvo[that was a shock!] B and & carried on using benches, ground, own tables etc.etc., B very much more so as he had big furniture and objêts he was determined to lose. Has big van repair bill and NY fortnight next week, so needs musty-must etc.
3. Looking up into nearby magnolia, saw a dozen or so in bud, in flower, or passing - what date was this? 31 October?
4. Trade and footfall all happy in the beautiful day and early-start evening. Lighting over the Square then helped late lingerers. & loaded 1st, kept watch while B finished. This mutual care/watching brief is something I have found universal in this game. Away 22h. &sqaut regained 0200, meaning up almost 48hrs this time.
5. Will shortly count takings and hopefully do moderate banking, anticipating latest repair for boot door[gritted teeth]/

Restorative weekends and pleasures or just topping up self, as glove-fits every one who happens on this good, good Thread and needs it.

Addendum that isn't really, because these 2 past days of public performance mask, firmly fixed, mark another year since x took his own life and it is never less vivid.
Further, his aim in so doing was totally wasted, misplaced nobility, bringing about as it did the destruction of &'s then Life, loss of The One, total failure by persons/'trusted' prof.s and bodies to behave as he believed, instructed and intended, loss of possessions, inherited home, other and contents.
Survive. Life is dear, needs holding and nurture, as does every one who may be doubting this.
