Morning :hello:
Overslept this morning - oopsLuckily my boss would have left the office before 9am to go to an off-site meeting, so he need never know I didn't get in until ten past
Which is just as well, as I have to leave early this afternoon. We have an extra service this evening at church - for Lady Day, which was yesterday but you can't celebrate a festival on a Sunday in Lent, so it gets moved to today. Service is at 6:30 but I have to be there at 5:30 for choir rehearsal, which means leaving work at 4:45 at the latest.
Feel a bit rubbish this morning - it's partly self inflicted (very tasty bottle of Chardonnay) but I think I've got a cold coming on as well.
Sorting through the boxes my parents brought me from Mum's loft, I have found several useful OS things, including the Usborne Guide to Knitting (aimed at kids, but hey, I've forgotten everything I ever learnt about how to knit so I might as well be treated like a kid) and my flower-press which my dad made for me when I was little. Also found a jigsaw puzzle - which I spent much of yesterday evening battling with, and will be battling with some more when I get home this evening! - and my diaries from when I was 17
mrs_mix - good luck with the scan
scuzz - no kiss after 5 weeks, that definitely sounds strange - perhaps he's waiting for you to make the first move
clairefun - glad you are all settling into the new house OK
SnowyOwl - good luck with work (((hugs)))
Sorry to anybody I've forgotten!
Must be off now - we had new database software installed over the weekend and I now need to go and see if all my vital reports still work!
Love Rzl xx :wave:Operation Get in Shape

My mum was born in 1942, and is exactly the same re stockpiling, so much in fact she has passed the trait down to me!!! I am having a lot of problems trying to run down my cupboards and freezer, i always like to have at least one of everything, as spare and one opened, and if i see a special offer, im there in a flash!!!!
Interesting isn't it? How those times still influence us. My Mum was born in 1919 and lived through very austere times before the war so was brilliant at managing to bring up a family on not very much money and rationing. My sister was born 1947 and myself 1956 (rationing had just ended by the time I appeared) and both sister and myself keep a good supply of tins, flour, rice etc in the cupboards to see us through hard times. We just can't help ourselves!
Reverie - I can recommend the book, worth looking in the library? I got mine in a charity shop. I would love to read Nella Lasts War after watching it on tv. I am in the process of scrapbooking my parents photos and momentos and I feel reading up on their era helps to make up for not having them around to ask about these times. Wish they were still with me though!

Morning, have only just dragged myself to the computer, it's a cold cloudy morning out although I have pegged a load of washing to the line in the hope that it cheers up.
Mrs_Mix, that sounds like a bit of an ordeal, I hope it goes well for you.
Moggins, good luck
Oh dear, I had a list of people to mention and now I've forgotten itI hate getting older. Oh yes, good luck with the move, Csarina. Hugs to everyone else, apologies for not mentioning you personally but, well, it's an age thing
Had an exhausting weekend at Norwich Cathedral where the choir I sing with sang all the services. This involves full time rehearsals and then doing the services, no free time to look round at all, unfortunately but luckily they have built a beautiful refectory just outside the cloisters there so we were able to stock up on reviving teas and coffees at regular intervals. Everything went very well but oh, I'm tired today. Yesterday morning we had to get up at 6 (new time!) to rehearse and grab breakkie and then we were on our feet all day until home time when I was squashed in the back of a car for three hours. Oh well. The new hour is not my friend today
Not much OS going on here today. DS20 is home from uni briefly, he's pinching my car later on to go shopping for a friend's birthday pressie and then driving on to stay with another friend ready to party tonight. So I'm trapped here for a day or so. Looking forward to DD22 coming home at the weekend, at least she has a car
Done a pile of washing and managed to remember to get the mince out of the freezer for dinner tonight, that's about all I shall get round to today I think, I'm like a zombie
Have a great day everyone. Will try to post a less rambly more useful message tomorrow

Catowen - I'm the same! OH is going to build a pantry for us when we have kitchen refitted, just to house all my BOGOFs
Sometimes I have a  moment when I think about turning into my mother, but then I realise that I'd be pleased to be half the lady she is
Catznine - I just looked and they have some 2nd hand copies on amazon for 47p plus postage. Might get a copy and read it and then send to Mum as a gift
Csarina - Good luck with moving. Remember not to pack the kettle and keep it at hand for tea breaks!0 -
Morning everyone!
Washing out as its sunny! - hate coming to work in this though!
I went out yesterday looking at where my grandparents used to live, wanted to take pics to build up portfolio for my family tree - BUT their masonette had been pulled down and a whole new load of flats/houses were there! times change eh!
catznine/catowen - Funny you should mention yr book - as I have been looking up old pics and history of where my family where etc. They were all from bermondsey with all the Docks History etc - My mum was evacuated during the war. When I was growing up my mum didnt stock pile - it was in the days when mums went up shops everyday to get the tea! So our cupboards never had anything in them for long!! which is probably why I always have to have my cupboards filled up - I cant bare to see them getting low!
So I dont think it has to stem from war time!:rotfl: In fact my son is the same - he tells me if he thinks the cupboards are starting to look bare:rotfl:
(as if they ever are:rolleyes: ) - strange isnt it!
scuzz - yes try the space thing - you havent got anything to lose by trying it! but he might be shy - my DH was!
snowy/PG - good luck at work today xx
tiredmum - good luck with job hunt!
mrsmix - good luck at scan today
bargainrzl - oh my god ive got diaries of that age too! :rotfl:
csarina - good luck with the move!0
