After *semi-retirement for 6 yrs now. (*Mrs K has me busy most of the time), I really want to get back into this 'trade' if only to stop the rapid growth of ex-aquashield salesmen setting up more and more roof coating co's. Try and Google roof coating or roof coaters and see 100's of em. 5 yrs ago there were 3-4 in the whole Uk. The Remit: Bullying old folk, door to door scallys, hard sell commission only staff , self employed fitters, NO aftersales care. No warranty issues (just close down and change the name, aquashield did it again recently), Sell at very high prices, no quality control, drive a new Bentley and sleep at night despite all of these con's On second thoughts, Nah ! I have some morals. I would have to show the rest how to do it proper like. Question: IS THERE ROOM FOR A ROOF COATING COMPANY IN THE UK, THAT ACTUALLY DO IT RIGHT, FOR THE RIGHT PRICE ?0

my neighbour had it done not that long ago, the jet washed all the crap off the roof and into my garden and windows.. they had the nerve to call me a lazy **** when i told them to sweep it up and clean it off my windows...
she was charged £2,000. why she didnt ask me for advice as her roof is fine as its linked to mine and other neighbour on the other side..

After reading all these posts about Aquashield, it all sounds so familiar. Except, the sales rep was from 'Pro-Tech Roof Solutions'. He claimed that they moved away from Aquashield and set up on their own, as they didn't want to be associated with Aquashields bad press. The sales patter sounds the same with the prices gradually coming down if you go down the 'showhome' route etc... Our 'showhouse' price was over £11,000, which was still far too high. I am not convinced that Pro-Tech are operating separately to Aquashield. Could it be that they are just trying a different name? Has anyone come across this name?0

aquashield quoted almost £5000 to coat our building...not the roof...just two walls back and front...it's a terraced house. when we said no he brought it down to £3,500 if we advertised for them.still too expensive he asked what price we had in mind and was going to bring it down further but we wouldn't budge...we only wanted a quote...he even wanted to know what colour we would choose .my husband told him his time was up as we were told he'd only be in the house 15 minutes to half an hour.even when we told him we didn't want it ..he asked if we'd be paying cash...i asked if he had another job as a comedien...if we couldn't afford it how could we pay cash...he finally left after an hour....don't let them in your door0

How much for one roof? Hah, I know a few people at Proshield Coatings who'll be able to do much better. These aren't ex double-glazing pressure salesmen trying to make a fast buck. Do yourself a favour and give them a try.0

They knocked on the door of my elderly uncle and started telling him that their roof coating contained this product known as Thermilate, which is apparently what prevents the heat loss through the roof and that he would save loads on bills. I spoke to a manager at Thermilate and he told me that they don't even supply aquashield, so this claims can't even be true, they're lying to people.
Apparently thermilate is in discussions with trading standards about bringing this under control.
I then spoke to my lawyer and he said if anyone had taken finance you should stop making payments right away as they have lied to you, son the contract is void or if you owe them money you don't have to pay them, as you have been given standard roof coating at a premium price under the false pretense that it contains a crucial ingredient that in fact it does not!0 -
I had my roof done by aquashield last year, a few weeks ago some of the mortar fell of - have tried to get in touch, eventually after quite a few phone calls from me they gave me a date to sort it, but they didn't turn up, now I'm going to have to go through it all again. Help, what do I do.0
