  • This my aquafriends is a typical rosemary tile, one coat in the wet wonder. 1) they havn;t used any primer which is essential on rosemary tiles and the manufacturer of their current coating advises not to use on clay tiles. 2) With a primer, and nano-tech coating *two coats allowing each to dry (*not one and run) you can coat clay, but even better, AQs are promoting a heat saving with their coating of 25%.

its not just the cost of the product/service, and thats bad enough as they use the same sales tactics as DG companies.
the question is actually, is it any good?
ask 10 decent builders and at least 9 will say, its useless. repair/replace the roof properly instead.

At least 6 of those 9 will have started roof coating themselves this year. I saw a 26yrs established roofing co, coating a roof today in Nth Manchester
search roof-coaters and get 21,120,000 pages on google..... and most of them are on here? :rotfl:
  • Just had a canverser round for this company.
They claim to save up to 25% of energy from the roof.
Doese anyone have any knowlodge of how this works

nano technology is NASA spec heat shield stuff that was actually developed to close the spaces between molecules that make up the coating with smaller molecules. (See youtube) This has worked on sealed tile. surfaces etc but the measurable advantage on a roof is frankly so small it can not possibly be 25% of your heating bills. It does however reflect heat from te outside in, which is what the manufacturers had in mind for roof use. The coating would have to be on the underside to work in our weather and reflact heat being lost back into the roof space.)Felt gets in the way).
The roof tiles are loose, moveable and have far to many gaps around the edges.
Snake Oil yes, and most customers never get the additional powder/liquid that need 72 hrs to dry between coats, temps over 20 degrees etc. Shop around for roof-coaters that offer the 100% acrylate coating. AQS charge around £35-£40 per mtr. Pay no more than £22

1890's mid terraced house, fully reslated, new batons, felted, new flashings around the chimney, plus gutters cleaned whilst he was up there, £1500. This was done by a local builder last year on my house. Plus, he's given a guarantee on the work.

Much better than any cleaning solution. And cheaper..

Did he retile in concrete tiles or slate? Big difference.
    What exactly has he guaranteed?
Did he use scaffolding? I doubt it as scaffolding is £700 - £1000 a week to hire!
    Lets break it down £1500
    VAT @ 17.5% last year - £262.50
    Labour 3 days - £600.00 if he's any good
    1 labourer 3 days - £300.00
    Scaffolding - £700.00
    Materials(based on 50m sq terrace) - £500.00
    TOTal - £2362.50
I calculate that your local builder has made a loss of £862.50 on the job. So either you are lying, your builder is now out of business (GUARANTEE??????) or the VAT, Inland Revenue, Building Control and Health & Safety would probably like a chat with him!
When you make an argument, you may want to consider putting your brain in gear before starting to type!

Yes - The aquashield product contains thermalite balls (a little like tiny ceramic balls about the size of a grain of sand).
Even if you have loft insulation, you will still continue to lose some heat through your roof. This product will now save you 25% of that loss. With the money it will save you, you wont be going on a cruise but it will help.
I have had my roof coated by aquashield for 2 years and can assure you of the following.
ITS WATERPROOF, BREATHABLE & THERMALLY EFFICIENT
THERE IS NO REGROWTH OF MOSS OR LICHEN
    NO DISCOLOURATION
    NO POINTING DECAY
    NO TILE EROSION
    NO POURUS TILES

    Hope I have helped

If a roof is coated by Aquashield, as mine has been for 2 years without change! It will not need re-roofing or any type of repair due to wear and tear. So why is it such a shock to you that builders and roofers dont like it.
If you went into an Audi dealership and said to someone, 'Im thinking of buying a Mercedes. what do you think'?, What do you think he would say??? OH YES THEY ARE GREAT, I HAVE ONE! I dont think so!

Its a company thats been around nearly 13 years with lots of happy customers and the product does what it says on the tin. Thats more than can be said for most roofers and builders

When was this job done? As Aquashield DO NOT coat clay tiles or slate!
I think you may find you have the wrong company my friend.
And if you are paying for your inside info, you should get a refund on your brown envelope
