  • We had aquashield round to give us a quote tonight for the roof and facings and surprise surprise after being very indimidating and phone calls from the manager the quote ended up going from £6200 down to £2500 which seems to crop up a few times. Woulnt touch them with a barge pole and have contacted Watchdog about there methods and would urge anyone else to do so to stop these companys ripping off and bullying people!!

If a roof is coated by Aquashield, as mine has been for 2 years without change! It will not need re-roofing or any type of repair due to wear and tear.

My house has still got the same roof which has been there for 80 years. It has lasted quite well without Aquashield

Run a mile from ANY of these "specialist" coating companies whether roof or walls. IMO the products are of questionable efficacy, and vastly overpriced. In some cases they can do more harm than good.

    Cheers

Theres a company round here call "Rooftec", who do a similar product-dont use them, i foolishly did the mess is unimanageable, they only do "small " repairs, turn up when they like, crash ladders against plastic guttering, oh and its coming off already after 1 year.
  • I say dear Board!!

One has just returned from a dear old aunts house, dropping off her Christmas present when she informed me of her experience with AquaSh*te.

My aunty is in her 80's.

An 'honest' salesman cold called, letting her know of a fantastic offer available to save her roof from impending doom as well as saving her money.
he was there for hours, beating any resolve out of her (not physically though!)
Almost to get rid of the lad she agreed to pay a deposit of £400.00. A few hours later she thought 'What have I done?' and rang the company to say that she had changed her mind (A shame she didn't ring the bank to cancel the cheque - but allow one to repeat, she is in her 80's and overlooked this until it was too late.
Anyway, she had to speak to at least 4 different people demanding to know why she had changed her mind - the last of which was apparently very pushy and made her feel very bad for wanting to go back on her word - she nearly buckled but stuck to her guns and asked for her deposit back within the seven day period where a full refund was guaranteed.

Despite several phone calls and letters she has yet to receive her deposit back from the company.

I am absoloutely disgusted with this company and will be taking this one on fer her in January to make sure that the deposit is returned. They are like a rancid parasite and have left her quite shaken by the incident.
    The !!!!less dirty thieving !!!!!!.

Ben-Wirral, I can show you at least 12 roofs in Manchester , all rosemary tiles, all coated by AQsh, and at least 6 have pointing that is now bare cement, one has a whole side peeled off, and 3 that have moss growing back after 18 months. So sorry but they will coat anything. They do have some good fitters that put two coats over a cleaned and treated roof, but look in any fitters garage and see just how many cans of coating he has left over???
rossan, just about every roof coating company in the UK is run by ex-aqua staff. Many are sales rather than fitters, few have ever done a roof themselves, and most do not care a jot about the finish, the quality or the aftershock they create. Some jobs are done to the manufacturers spec. Best thing is AQS are actually out there this week, (NO COATING UNDER +5 degrees ), Coating roofs.
They will put ONE thick coat on, this will freeze and run when thawed leaving a much thiner and useless finish. Warranty .... you wlil be lucky.

Insider No, interested party. Ohhhhhhh Yars.

  • I had a senior surveyor (thats what he said) from the above company in my house yesterday. He offered the same product the same way as Aquashield. He was talking the same crap, discount for show home etc, he said a new roof would cost around £6000-8000 for our 76 sqm roof. But they will do the cleaning, treatment only for £2700, just for us!!! For others it would be £4100.
Well, it was a very good salesman, because he convinced me to sign the contract and agreed to start the work today.
When he left, I started to think. I have measured our roof, and it is actually 50 sqm (including wasteage). Than I searched the internet and found this thread and videos how aquashield works and it was way too similar.
I have done some calculations, and I think a new roof(re-tiling) would cost me less than £2000 if I use a local builder, or much less if I do it myself.
Just my experience. Hope it helps someone.

    Good advice ex aqua-man.
Coating your roof = bad idea.
It may be a 'fantastic product' when applied correctly but it makes maintenance and future roof replacement a bind.
If a roof 'needs' this sort of treatment then it's time for a new roof.
I think we have a sales man on here in the form of Ben - Wirral.
