Hello again

tired mum I'm so sorry about your job and the cancellation of your holiday. With all the good wishes being offered today, something is bound to turn up for you. ((hugs))
dogrose Congratulations to your DS and DD. :T You are quite right to be so proud.
Chrisca How exciting!! Hope the birth goes smoothly (and quickly ;) ). keep us posted, won't you?
taplady Let's hope the sleepover at work won't be so bad as you imagine.
Churchmouse Hope you feel better soon.
Lesley Gaye how nice for you if your DD does manage to get a house nearby. Far better than Dubai.
Aussie, if you are praying for DS then the Big Man Upstairs wouldn't dare to give him anything less than an A+. ;):D
Anniestar there are times when we need to take comfort where we can get it. I hope visiting your mum's grave gives you the comfort you need. ((hugs))

Well, DS's exam will be over now (thank goodness). I know he will have done his best so we can only wait and see. Thank you for the good wishes for him. I appreciate it.

Been to Mr T's and got lots and lots of points added to my clubcard. Every little helps as Mr T says. ;)

Not sure what was happening on the back road to Blackpool but the police are out in force and were stopping cars right, left and centre. I did wonder if a prisoner had escaped from Kirkham Prison as there were so many of them and they were all radioing but it looks more like they are stopping young men and checking their documents. If it makes the roads safer than it can only be a good thing.

Cannot be bothered doing anything else today so will have do a quick tidy round and then sit down for an hour or so before doing the school run. Bye for now. xx

Well I've just thrown a hissy fit at OH too, which is rare for me as I don't get cross often. We are supposed to be going to a dance festival tommorrow as a mutual friend of ours is performing and asked us to go. Today I get a message saying that it clashed with the football semi-final he has found someone that would like to go and could pass on the spare ticket. Now I wouldn't have minded if he hadn't said he would go at the start, but I do mind if he agrees then pulls out just because something better came along. Hence the hissy fit.

So we are both going tommorrow. OH now understands the true meaning of the phrase "do what you like". :D

I took my stress out on the insurance company though who decided this morning to raise my motorcycle premium by £70 and increased my excess from nothing to £50. Not a happy bunny given I've not ever claimed. Got it knocked down again by being "disappointed" - to what I would be offered if I did it online. I'll just let the policy expire then renew online as I can get £15 back via an affiliate site this way too. Cheeky mares. I wonder how many people just let it auto-renew (£100 pa to £170 is a big jump given I don't ride that much these days).

tiredmum - really sorry about your job :( hopefully something else will come along soon.
churchmouse - hope you feel better soon
anniebooklover - really glad your son has finished them all now :) I've seen them stop cars here too, checking the tax and insurance mainly. They had a fair few piled up on the verge last time I saw them, so I think they were confiscating cars too. I agree with this wholeheartedly.

Good afternoon all :hello:

Shez  I glanced over the thread yesterday and you reminded me about Quidco when looking at insurance. We've still got to get our travel insurance for NZ, so I'll have to remember to get my cash back. Otherwise I'd be doing this: :wall:

Happy birthday to meanmarie and Miss Pink!

(((hugs))) to those that need them and aren't feeling too great.

I've got a thumping headache AND a huge pile of books in front of me that need marking, not that I'm using work avoidance tactics at the moment, you understand. It's my PPA afternoon, which basically means that I get time away from the class to plan and prepare and catch up on all the other stuff I can't do whilst I'm teaching. It doesn't tend to reduce how much work I do at home though, which is still LOADS.

Our supper last night was a lovely salad. Even DH commended me on it. I remember the first time that he told his mum that he'd had salad prepared by me, she clipped him around the ear hole. :rotfl: Apparently he was a fussy eater when he was little but since being with me he'll eat almost anything. She's not impressed. :D

Anyway, super tonight will be pasta with sauce. Nothing overly dramatic, but the sauce was left over from a "buy 2 for £X" deal when I was feeling not overly creative the other week.

Really must go and stop procrastinating.

Hi Celyn - your turn today, then! I agree with you - your DH should have been straight with you at the start. Enjoy the performance.

I also agree with you about not letting things just renew regardless of the premiums. I've been with RAC for about ten years, starting off at £39 per year for roadside recovery etc. Each year it has gone up - they break it down into direct debits over 4 months. Until recently, they were charging £39 per month for four months so I phoned them up and said I wanted to cancel - in the end I got the same cover for a one-off payment of £43 for the year! I've only used it once in all those years but there's no discount for loyalty these days, is there? I'm glad you got yours reduced - it makes me mad because they know that, most of the time, we never get round to doing anything about these crafty rises but we're wising up nowadays!

Anyway, I have to go to the bank now, even though I checked with DH on the phone this morning before I went to the shops to find out if he had any banking. He said no when he meant yes. I think he actually likes me when I'm angry! Still, I shall go and get petrol at the same time so I won't completely waste the journey. I suppose I'll spend about £50 for petrol that will do me about 20 miles, the way the prices are going up.

See you.

Have a lovely holiday Haribo

today I had to take ds1 for a blood test which is quite a feat as he is terrified of needles so even though he's bigger than me I have to hold him down
then I gave him a lift to an interview for a job/apprenticeship in a garage which went well
then we went to the next little town and had a mooch around different charity shops managed to get a nice pair of trousers for me and a pair of designer jeans for ds2 for £6 so was pleased with that
got a bit of tidying up and dusting to do but thats all today
(((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one
Pam xx

Pam - that's good bargains, I never find anything like that in our charity shops!

Vickya/bargainrzl/catowen -

Not had a very good day myself - had a disagreement with DH - who has also gone off to his dad's grave (abit like you annie).

My nextdoor neighbours (24yrs) are moving on friday, so they are busy sorting out. Everyone seems to be moving onwards and things are changing....makes you feel abit unsettled doesnt it?

We had a financial crisis last year that we are still digging our way out of and I can sympathise when you say that you feel that you have let the boys down. Everyone kept saying to me when I was saying much the same that they hadn't, and didn't, think that at all and that we all had to work together to move on to better times. To a certain extent, I think it is right to let children know some of the difficulties that adults face, to let them see how we, as adults, deal with it. It gives them a role model for when they have their own tough times.

good luck with everything

Well not long after I posted on here this morning DS rang to say no, they weren't going to induce now as they are concerned about her previous Caesaren scar. Her contractions had quietened overnight and they were waiting for her consultant to see her today. That was just before 9am and I've not heard anything since. I know the hospital is very busy at the mo with babies being born left right and centre, but I am pacing up and down like a caged lion now!!! Will report back later if I hear anything.

Hi

Have not posted on here for months. I have not read through the thread but hope that everyone is having a lovely day and to those that are not.... (((((HUGS)))))))

I am having a quiet day without Hubby. I have had and still having a bad flare up of ill health but things are at last looking positive. Hubby started his new job a couple of weeks ago and is happier than he has been in years. I have lost my drivers license due to health issues but the other day got a free bus pass which I have used a few times! This saves £1.20 each time it gets used! I am about to start a sewing project using some remnants I found in the loft. I am making a bag and if it turns out good I am going to make more as leaving presents for ds to give to teachers and classroom assistants as he moves to high school this time. I was lucky to get a sewing machine off freecycle. It was broken and hubby fixed it. Now selling my old one on ebay!
