OS Tuesday 24th June 2008

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Everyone

Thought I would start us off today. Been awake sinced 6am, too hot to sleep!

:bdaycake: Happy Birthday MeanMarie :bdaycake:

Went to a Brazillian restaurant last night with some friends who were going home at the end of their holiday. This took the form of a large island with hot & cold starters/salad which you could help yourself too as many times as you liked, and then they came round with large skewers full of different things done on the BBQ, which they kept bringing round until you said no! Fried Banana, Yucca, Beef, Turkey wrapped in bacon, Chicken, Lamb, Pork, Date wrapped in Bacon, Hot BBQ Pineapple, Garlic Beef, Sausages are what I recall. Certainly different, and very enjoyable.

Better get brain in gear now for what I get out of the freezer to cook today.:o

Telefonica came out yesterday and said the connection in the box outside the house was very corroded, and lucky that I had a phone line at all:eek: . Hopefully the connection will be better, now, still have an odd one, but more stable atm.

((((hugs)))) to all of you. Mioliere sometimes you have to have a rant, just to get through. Hope your infusion went OK Pen-Pin. Hope you got some sleep Anniestar.
Jayward - hows the numb foot? Sorry brain not functioning well this a.m. (maybe the wine last night:beer: )

Take care all - DG

    Morning all

Another sunny day here by the looks of it.:D

Hope everyone is well and full of the joys - hugs to those who aren't.

Things still the same in my world - the long chat online last night didn't resolve anything and with no real experience of manic depression, i don't really know what to expect anyway - no 'quick fix', that's certain.

Work today for some light relief!

    Have a good one!

    Good Morning All

    Happy Birthday Meanmarie

Poppyoscar (((hugs))) to you and anyone else who needs one.

Donny - that meal sounds fantastic

The weather looks lovely out there today so definately some more washing is in order, DD has been in our above ground swimming pool each day lately so there is plenty of cossies and towels to wash.

Have normal day of paperwork, housework and ironing to do. Also have Tesco's coming this morning with a large shop as I had a voucher that needed to be used this week.

Simple dinner of sausages and mash tonight.

Hi Donny - see you're typing the same time as me! Hope you are having a great time.

It's a lovely start to the day here today; the sun is shining through the treetops and the sky is really blue so I hope it lasts.

(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Mrs Mix, Beth, Jayward, Anniestar and Candygirl's Dad.

Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello: I like waving to you!!

'Where are they now?' - Haribo, Martyn? Haven't heard from either of you for ages. Hope all is well in both your lives?

Wow, wasn't I a miserable you-know-what yesterday?! Haven't felt like that for ages but I think it blew some cobwebs away and I found it therapeutic, although I felt sorry for anyone in the firing line and, as I only had DH's company all day, he was my only target! He did spend the rest of the evening treading carefully and being very attentive - I think I just reminded him that I don't have to do his books; I do it to save him time, money and hassle and, because he has just one very old dodgy memory cell, I help to keep him on top of things. When I said 'do your own flipping books (or words to that effect!)' before my hissy fit, he looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights; I didn't really mean it but the look of horror on his face was priceless! Anyway, we'll see what happens!

Today I actually do feel a lot better - I managed to get a decent night's sleep and the stuffed up feeling that has been keeping me awake seems to have gone - it must have been all the angry crying yesterday! I shall try and sing light-heartedly (you would NOT want to hear that) while I finish the books today; I am determined to get them done before I pick another fight with DH - he's at work all day today so he's safe, anyway.

Those of you who finished the thread last night - thanks for making me laugh! The thought of Aussie thinking she could keep her knickers on during labour really made me laugh!

I must phone my friend later - her border collie had a nasty accident yesterday while they were out walking. She was just running about in the bushes and walked onto a sharp branch that was sticking out and it went right into her chest. My friend phoned her DH to collect them but he got stuck in traffic so he had to phone her and tell her to carry the dog home. The vet took her straight into the operating theatre last night so we don't know the outcome yet. She is a lovely dog, friendly and full of life - she's the only dog I know that actually seems to smile when she greets you.

Anyway, I'm going to have a shower now so will see you later and I promise to keep my cool today! Thanks, once again, to you all for getting me through yesterday!

    KathyXX

    Happy Birthday MeanMarie!!

Poppyoscar - have a look over on the health boards - they'll have lots of info and advice about manic-depression; good luck to you.

Morning to everyone on that side of the world!

Hugs to you poppyoscar, and to anyone else who needs them. Manic depression runs in our family, but I don't have any first hand experience. Perhaps reading all you can about it would help you to cope?

I've had quite a productive day, been to the market and to Aldi and have been on a baking marathon. I've made a banana cake (found a thriftlady recipe) and whacked in some choc chips and cocoa that I found. Have also made carrot and cinnamon muffins, choc chip muffins with protein powder (for OH), Millies style cookies, and some apple, cinnamon and sultana puff pastry whirls. This is partly because I love baking and partly because we're trying to run down the cupboards before we move as we don't want to lug it all with us. Unfortunately I'm on a diet so I've decided to make up a platter for OH to take to work tomorrow. They have a horrible day on Wednesdays and will hopefully appreciate some home baking.

Did make a start with housework but got a little disheartened. It's the end of financial year sales here and we've taken advantage of that to buy some bits and bobs for the new house. Unfortunately we live in a 'bijou' (read: tiny) apartment and so it's all stuffed behind a chair in the living room  . Am also annoyed because every saturday at work I make a long to do list, type it all up so it's neat etc, then every monday I seem to spend the day doing important jobs that I forgot to put on my list, so I can't cross anything off :rotfl:

Off to finish making up the platter. I love doing things like that! Am I a little sad? :o
