I'm gonna be honest with you all. All I managed was to load the dishwasher, put the rubbish out, open the mail and put some potatoes in the oven for dinner. (and schoolruns and feeding/changing toddler of course)

Pathetic though, isn't it, and I really meant to do so much more. I didn't attempt the car because it was raining all day, but I should have put the laundry away. I can't think what I do. On the net a lot, I suppose and sitting around getting fat. I so want a lovely house!!!

I'm so impressed by your enthusiasm, all of you..
Hex, can't believe Tesco are so rubbish, they're good here.

Lil-me, I've got 2 case studies to do by September, know how you feel.

Scared1980. That's a hard one, but it sounds as though you are always rushing and not able to appreciate the girls as much as you want to. Especially considering the costs of child care, for me it would be a nobrainer, but I do miss having gainful employment and the stimulation (I just do a few bits here and there to bring in money)

    tiamai-d good luck with bras!!!

justa mum and mudbath - I think jovi are ok, but my hubby's a fan so I tease him by calling it 'girlie-rock' - works a treat!

Pigpen, your food list is making me hungry - hope you find your policies or you've probs!

    WHY didn't I get motivated???:o

Oh sweetie, I can really relate to this, but don't beat yourself up, just give yourself lots of praise for what you did do, and aim to do a little more tomorrow, or monday when you start again. Nobody on this thread is perfect, (least of all me :o) and I'm sure we all have days when things just don't get done like we hoped they would. Just think, if you build up gradually, then all these resolutions will be easier to maintain ;). The very fact that you are wanting to do better is a massive step in the right direction, and that you are being honest in your posts rather than getting discourged and not posting at all. Just cut yourself some slack, enjoy a nice drink this evening, enjoy your weekend and remember tomorrow is another day :D

I don't hate it here at all.... I actually like my job...

The money barely covers my childcare etc and I miss my girls.... (plus I think I would like another one... shhhhh don't tell the OH  )

I just feel that I would be SO much happier if I was the one that was around for them.... I hate having to rush dinner because I don't get home until 5:30pm and not being able to sit together for breakfast.

I just don't know what to do... sometimes my girls drive me crazy and work seems like a good escape, but thats very rare and they only play up because I haven't been around for the whole day!

    Confused :o

Can you go part time at all, but doing say 2 or 3 full days (it works out cheaper re childcare). You can legally request it if you have worked there over a year, they have to provide proof that it would be deprimental to the comapny to grant your request.

I did this after DS2 was diagnosed, it suited me great. Nice balance of work and lots of time at home with the kids. Best of both worlds I found.

I eventually gave up work completely but that was purely to care for DS2 when his full situation came to light.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

    :o

    So you

    Loaded DW
    Rubbish out
    Dealt with mail
    School runs
    Chased toddler
    Kept toddler fed
    Prepped dinner

    See, it's still a list! :T

I have to turn the PC off during the day or I will just sit and stare at stuff. I think it's an addiction to be honest! Actually I'm scared by how true that could be....

mary43 a lot have their own way of doing these, I've used ones for years but it's very much based on what I need to include, here's Moggin's version http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=214139 which you might find useful as a base. I am pressuming you mean a household journal sort of thing, never personally heard of the term control journal.

I've just been striking off my list, decided DP can move his own junk to the garage so didn't do that, DSs currently scoffing (making lots of nomnomnom noises) dinner took much longer with working with DS1 and his cutlery, I expect it will be stressful for a while as he's very resistant to using it, but after making himself choke shoving uncut food in his mouth then swallowing (he's also useless for chewing) I lost my cool a little and ranted that if he cuts his food up he'll be less likely to choke. He tried to refuse the food thinking that it was it that made him choke rather than his actions. What a child! Anyway we got through, they did pick up some things, there is some left to do which I will hopefully get them to do before bed.

Did anyone spot that I forgot to include feed myself :rotfl: see I knew I'd forget something, found some microwave hotpot thing I got reduced in the freezer, well it's vile but edible all the same. Right, next job is bath time and study reading, best go finish my dinner then get started :) (after I post my meal plan, I need to do these online things to keep me right)
One day I might be more organised...........

Unfortunately they have already cut this job down to suit me... it is supposed to be 5 full days and they agreed to cut it to 4 for me when I came back from maternity, and I am constantly run off my feet, its also not a job that would be easily "shareable" either.

I have worked there for nearly eight years so they all mean a lot to me... I have been promised a pay rise in January and they are booking me on training courses this year so they are doing what they can... I also get a good pension and private healthcare which I wouldn't be able to afford if I stayed home....

My logical side is saying stay at work, but my heart is saying be with the girls!

Sorry for rambling... head is just spinning at the moment.

    Lyns,

this 'have it all' thing for women nowadays is just a huge great con isn't it? Whatever you choose, something else has to give. And those famous women who say they have it all, have probably a huge staff.

I did go back to teaching part-time after I had DS1 and was so miserable that I handed in my notice at halfterm. I haven't in the least regretted my decision. But I have to be honest and say that I have given up career progression and a very good pension, so I may well regret it in the future! I think I should really have gone back when DS2 started secondary, but I didn't want to then. I got very involved with the National Childbirth Trust and worked as a volunteer at local and regional level for 12 years, which gave me plenty of adult company as well as time with the children.

Have you ever read a book called 'I don't know how she does it?' I think it was written by Alison Pearson. Good read, and sums it up nicely!

hex - I'm so pleased that your holiday has worked out for you! Where are you going? We're going to the Loire Valley for one week, then just east of Rouen for the second week. I really must get the hotel booked for the journey down, and also the ferry - thank you for reminding me!

I haven't done a huge amount today, as I'm still really tired for some reason. I have done more washing, and a spell on the allotment as well means that I have finished clearing weeds from the rest of one bed, and only have two half beds to do. All the children are home today, and I took the boys to have their hair cut - wow, DS1 has eyes again! DD off to stay over with friends tonight.

Tomorrow I'm doing the weekly shopping in the morning, then hopefully will go see Mum.

    Have a lovely weekend everyone!

lilme - thanks for finding that for me. Thats the one. Something that holds virtually everything you might need, particularly in the way of emergency phone numbers, dates to remember, insurance, as well as household stuff.........sort of journal for all seasons if you know what I mean.
From what Memorygirl said it was the sort of thing that if there was ever a house fire (heaven forbid but these things happen) that would be the journal to grab as it had all the info in it needed.
Looks like the sort of thing that could be adapted to suit individual needs. It's an excellent idea I think.

Just popped into the Boots thread and read about one of the ladies there who lost her 8 month old baby boy to meningitis on Wednesday. Now sitting here with tears rolling down my face.
