Hi there peeps, good morning, hope the day is going well,
First, a moan. Had a good party last night until about 12 midnight when OH got alcohol poisoning, but not like just your average throwing up but was actually in a really, really bad way. I was on phone to doctors at 1:30 I was so worried and whilst we managed to keep him out of hospital it was touch and go for a while. At about 2:30 he was falling asleep in between pukes and the doctor told me that if he was going to sleep that was the best thing but I had to stay awake and supervise him in case he was sick in his sleep or anything worse.
So I have sat up all night reading cookbooks and he only woke up at 9am. Think I am now a Cordon Bleu, Michelin star chef!!! He is thankfully medically fine after a good nights sleep, but I think he is suffering with a killer hangover. I’m shattered, but so stressed after the nights events that I can’t sleep. I’ll probably have a mid afternoon nap to catch up. Anyway, I’m just so, so pleased he’s ok and that he didn’t have to have stomach pumped as it looked likely at one point….I am also grateful that I was completely sober and able to give him the help he needed.
So in terms of flying today my activity will be minimal, just clearing the after party mess, and doing a laundry. Other than that I’m going to curl up on the sofa with my ‘snuggle blanket’ and a cup of tea, watch the tennis and hopefully dose off! Hubbie’s only job is cleaning the lovely sparkling toilet he spectacularly ruined last night!!! That’ll teach him.:D
Welcome to all newbie’s, Sinderella It is really fine to just do your own thing here; I hope you will find it as supportive and helpful as I have. Other newbie’s, my heads in pieces here, and I’m crap with names anyway being quite new myself, but really welcome, welcom welcome, I look forward to getting to know you.
Pretz when I was living at home with my parents, our next door neighbours would have a yearly ‘leaf burning’ bonfire every autumn, and it would make our house smell gross, even though they were quite careful and it never got out of control! I remember the smell hanging around for days… You have my sympathy.
lil_me argh the stresses of being a student….are you at uni or doing OU? I remember the stress of a looming deadline and as Hubbie is still a student we still are very much at the mercy of his deadlines. I always find a good way to do it is work in 45 min chunks and then promise yourself a kick !!! reward and rest for the remainder of the hour. With me it was always cigarettes, but OH always rewards himself with a nice big cup of tea and whatever else he fancies.
Hugs to anyone else who needs them, and good luck with everyone’s flying,
Justamum, I don’t want to start a music war but I’m with you r.e. Mr Jovi, he’s never floated my boat! Although I don't hate him as much as I used to as hubbie always makes me play ‘living on a prayer’ at the end of a party as it makes him feel happy and nostalgic!
Finally thanks to pigpen for this weeks excellent lists ( my OH is very very very grateful to you).
Sending out good vibes and good wishes,
Have good days ladies, I’m off to chill out and get pampered by a stupidly grateful hubbie!

No Justamum, only joking huni!
Well DD2 has come home with a mystery plant! Nursery had a selection of seeds left over from their shopping trip to the garden centre and let some of the kids plant them to take home. So we could have a lovely plant or a couple of pumpkins!
Just going to have to wait and see what develops from the shoots

Pigpen - my friend has just received a letter from a college where she's applied to do a course. It asks her to attend an interview and 'bring a parent'. She's 52!!! Think it could be a standard letter!!
Justamum - i'm with you on Bonjovi - not a fan at all! xx0 -
Pigpen, you must make potato kebabs! They are so lovely! Boil some new or baby pots till just a little under cooked, coat in oilve oil and chives/spring onions etc and then skewer when cool. Heat on BBQ and they are just lovely!
Burgers and such, no idea, I always over cook! Maybe 30 burgers, 60 snags and atleast 30 drumsticks? (if everyone arrives) Do your family usually bring extras?? Ours did and we ended up with so much extra. Keep em all in the fridge so you can bung left overs in the freezer.
How about getting soem soda water and mixing it with squash? That's all I do for a treat, in a big jug with ice and a lsice of lemon, kids are fooled! :rotfl:
I spent ages yesterday in the kids room of doom and that little sod DS2 has pulled everything out again!!! I hadn't even finished the room and now it's back to square one!!! GRRRRR!!!! DH is off today and allready not talking to me cos DS1 is off school. I fell asleep on the sofa after getting up at 7am with them. Woke up at 9.30am and though sod it, it's his last day. I saw 8am and thought I should think about getting him dressed.... Not sleeping at nights for some reason and really tired in the mornings, trying not to nap so as not to make it worse, but hey-ho.
1pm, summer holidays start!!!!!

lunchtime here, dailies finished, still dry so one load of washing nearly ready to come back in.
hex accepted your request, I have been playing scramble with a friend but was well beaten.
i have had a quote for removing some of the conifers and holly bushes from the garden £750 - this is for 2 conifer trees, 1 large holly tree and a conifer hedge (approx 12 large plants about 8ft high), also trimming some branches of a tree which takes a lot of light from the garden. Does anyone know if this is the going rate??0 -
Afternoon all
One load of washing done, hung out, got back in again and hung upstairs.
Vacuumed through downstairs.
Cleaned the cat snot off the windows (daily job)
Polly (dog) seems a bit happier today although still falling about. Her face doesn't look so pinched, think we might be turning the corner. I rang the vet to confirm her medication is safe while she is ill and there isn't anything else we can do and apparently all we can do is nurse her and reassure her which we're already doing of course.0 -
Hev.. I use the 'write note' facility on tesco to tell them what to substitute for if my cosen item is out of stock.. works here.. plus if they send stuff when I've said no substitutes I ring and complain and they refund all the substituted items!!
Pigpen - I've tried that - and writing 'no substitutions' etc, and ringing them, in fact everything except sticking pins into a tesco voodoo doll. Nothing has worked. As for ringing about unrequested substitutions - I was once on the phone with 20 items! I stuck it out to the grim end, the person on the line was thoroughly sick of me saying, 'Right, next...' I think it is just ours, though, but it is really annoying. The worst was one Christmas, when I had a massive shipping order in for 23rd so that I could brave Christmas Eve shopping if there was stuff out of stock. The substitutions added £30 to the bill and the driver actually just dumped the bags in the road (you know, where the cars go) and did one! Sainsburys service here is impeccable - couldn't recommend it enough, and if you shop carefully you can get the bargains. The total still keeps creeping up. Trouble is, I reckon I will still have to get all the items by the end of the month anyway, but I keep going back and seeing what I can prune and maybe pick up on my afternoon off in Wilkos etc.
Congratulations on the letter from the college and good luck!
Hugs to all!Always another chapter0 -
Mudbath.. I don't have to take a parent thankfully!! or at least I've not been advised of that yet.. Neither know I've applied and I've not spoken to my dad in 4 years!
Thank Hev.. just got to summon the courage to actually go.. they want to test basic literacy and maths abilities as well.. oh dear.. that's me not scared! They want us to make up the 4th module doing.. English, maths or 'another subject'... at GCSE level.. I have the english, maths chemistry and biology so have no idea what to do that would be relevant to the course.. I might just do the physics.. for a chuckle!
EEK.. a private number is calling me on my mobile.. I'm not answering it.. they'll want money won't they?? .. they will.. I know it..
Right.. which 'safe place' did I stash the warranty for the cooker??? I need it and can't find it.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
