Hi
i am thinking about getting some tumble dryer balls, like these ones http://www.dryerballs.eu/ .
Has/does anyone use them and would recommend them? I want to reduce the drying time mainly, so would you say it does that? If so, but how much?
thanks.0 -
I had these but couldn't handle the banging noise coming from the tumble dryer and ended up giving them to the charity shop. I wasn't prepared for just how loud a load could be, using these.Herman - MP for all!0

Thanks Aliasojo,
that sounds a bit off putting, especially since i do a lot of my tumble drying at night whist asleep- do you think it would keep us awake then?
I guess i could do it during the day when we all all out instead though.0 -
Depends on where your dryer is and what your house is like.
The banging in mine was certainly loud enough to be heard upstairs.
Btw, if your dryer is on during the night, you do have working smoking alarms? Dryers have been known to catch fire and if you don't have any alarms.........Herman - MP for all!0 -
i have a tiny house and can hear EVERYTHING!!
i think doing more loads during the day sounds like a good idea!!
Yes we do have smoke alarms, although fingers crossed i wont ever need them! Thanks for the warning though.0 -
I have these and haven't seen a huge difference. They are VERY loud, although as they heat up they soften and the noise reduces, but if you have a cool cycle at the end like us then you hear 10 minutes of loud banging at the end of the cycle!
I think they probably reduce the life of clothes too, as they are quite prickly and hard and keep banging up against the clothes. I don't use them with my half decent clothes.Debts 2004: £6000..............................................Aug 2007: £0!!!!0 -
Which? Magazine did a test on these dryer balls and they found no identifiable difference of having them in the machine at all. Which? said that they did not reduce tumble drying time and the only difference it made was fluffing up your towels slightly more.
Needless to say I bought mine before the Which? survey was done and could have saved myself some money had they done that artcle sooner!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:
