A large old dry towel put in the tumble dryer works just as well IMHO. they might stop a bit of the static. Very ,very noisy

    Hi

I have these dryer balls and to be honest, I think they're not worth the money. I bought the £10 ones, used them for about 3 months and found clothes took longer to dry and had more static.....as well as how noisy (could still here them in the next room!)

Was thinking of investing in the washing balls though, if anyone has any tips
  • Just wanted too say that I saw these dryer balls in Poundland today (a pack of 2), didn't buy any though after everyone's comments about the noise!

Do tumble drier balls work better if you use loads of them? Or is the effect just the same as with two? :confused:Hope that's not a daft question!:p

    Many Thx

it didn't work any better when I just used 2 as oppose to when I used 4... fewer clothes in the dryer make a bigger difference

I think they are great.. and they don't do any damage to the drum.. the laundry balls actually got caught in the door seal and wrecked my washing machine though so I wouldn't recommend those.

My mother on the other hand hated them and the fact they are quite noisy as they clang about in the drum

If you can stand the noise hey're actually quite good! Scares my guinea pig though - her hutch is opposite the dryer so she gets the full effect of the banging!

They actually seem to get quieter once they've been in for 10 minutes - I have my own theory that this is cos as they heat up they get softer!

    Hi setmefree,

There's an earlier thread with lots of opinions on tumble dryer balls that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep the replies together.
