  • I bought some last October and I think they're pretty good. My washing definitely seems less creased.

Not sure how long they'll last though as the dog is fascinated by them and would love to get his teeth into them. He waits patiently for them to escape when I'm getting the washing out of the machine so that he can bat them around the kitchen floor.
I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!

Large items such as sheets and duvet covers get tangled and go into a ball because there is not enough room for them to tumble freely.
Your washer possibly has a larger drum capacity than your dryer.

It may work better if you were to split a load of bedding after washing and dry in 2 lots.
It would not take as long to dry each small load.

I think the dryer balls are meant to help the laundry move around in the dryer, if it is overloaded, then the balls won't solve that problem.

I wanted some dryer balls when they were supposed to be in Poundland for £1, but by the time I got there they were all gone. Then I thought back to when my mum first got a tumble dryer, and she used to use tennis balls in the dryer to plump up big puffy coats, jackets and down pillows etc. She also put them in with jeans to make sure they didn't come out creased and hard, instead they came out lovely and soft.

    Hi The Bargain Hunters,

We have a current thread on dryer balls so I've merged your thread with that one as it helps to keep all the replies together.

I have a large capacity tumble dryer - it doesn't seem to make a difference even if I just put one sheet in it still ends up in a ball!

  • Has anyone used these? They are supposed to reduce drying time and eliminate the need for fabric conditioner, i'd like some expert opinions before i buy! Thanks x

I didn't notice much difference to be honest. They are very noisy in the tumble dryer though. I bought the Tesco version, which was about a pound, they also sell them in poundland from time to time.

I have some of these too ... agree with Buyitall, I couldn't tell the difference, the tumble dryer makes clothes come out soft anyway and yes they are very noisy.

  • I agree with Buyitall and Ms Chocaholic. In my opinion all they do is make a lot of noise. I wouldn't waste your money.
