  • I just use mine with the towels. I don't see any difference in the drying costs, but they do fluff up the towels.

I brought a couple of sets from the £ shop and love them, they cut the drying time by around 15/20 mins on a load for me and I find heavier items like towels and jeans dry much quicker - I don't seem to get so much ironing either.

For the £2 I spent I'm very impressed.

    Hi cleggie,

I've added your thread on dryer balls to the existing one where you'll find lots of advice on using them.

I bought mine in the 99p shop and I do find my towels soften up lovely after drying hard on the line.

I use them - £1.99 about three years ago from a local garage shop (dont ask - they sell everything!)
    seen them in poundshops too.
They are noisy and I am glad my tumble dryer is out in the utility room - no way could I stick that racket!
But - they must have saved me pounds over the years on tumble dry sheets. I havent noticed any decrease in softness from the sheets - but there is absolutely no smell of any kind on my laundry now. GOOD - dislike strong perfumes anyway!

I have used dyer balls for years and for me they do seem to reduce dying time. So I use them whenever I tumble dry anything. In saying that I usually only tumble my towels.

I agree they are very noisy, and would certainly keep me awake if i used them at night.

IMHO if you can find some for a few quid then I would certainly recommend that you give them a try.

I absolutely swear by my Klaisen Wool Tumble Dryer balls. They definitely reduce drying time as the wool seems to absorb a lot of the moisture and separate the clothes. We have two sets so use the other set dry out when we're going heavy on the drying cycles

The best benefit I found was that they also soften those clothes. We tried them as our DD was getting rashes from pretty much every liquid we tried.

Anyway, these are the ones we use and we love them:

I got 3 of the wool ones from Home Bargains on Saturday......either £1.99 or £2.99.

I find them a bit quieter than plastic ones.....but not much ;)
