Well I tried it with the tennis balls, thought they made the washing smell of rubber! Maybe I'll just save the £10 on the dryer balls, ditch the fabric softener and find the thread which mentioned using vinegar instead.[size=-2]Remember its nice to be nice and its good to share!

Has anyone tried the tumble dryer balls? are they any good?
http://www.ecotopia.co.uk/detail.jsp?cName=energy-products-all-energy-products&pName=dryer-balls
I want a cheaper alternative to the bounce sheets I put in my tumble dryer. I only use the tumble dryer for half dry towels so they soften up. I can't use sofner in my washing machine at the moment because its blocked for some reason and we can't find the blockage.
Can anyone suggest what I could put in the tumble dryer instead.0 -
Apparently putting a couple of tennis balls in the tumble makes a big difference. not tried it myself though.
hugs

I have the dryer balls got mine from lakeland though they help a little bit but if I had thought about it a bit better I would have just bought tennis balls as I think they would have the same effect and are a lot cheaper
If they split or anything like that I wouldn't but them again I would just go and buy 4 tennis balls for a £1 and use them
pamI didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you

Personally, using a tumble dryer per se is a drain on the purse and the environment, so to buy additions to an already wasteful article wouldn't be moneysaving
If your washing machine is blocked, have you tried removing the drawer where you put the powder/liquid and giving it a good clean in the sink? When did you last clean out the washer filter, it could be bunged up.
You could also try running the washing machine empty, on the hottest was setting with some vinegar in the fabric softener compartment to 'flush' it through. HTH.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks Queenie but we have done everything to get the softener draw unblocked , removed the drawer etc, did a hot wash without anything in + the vinegar, the washer filter is free of any debris, and we have had a look along all the pipes, still no joy. I only tumble my towels for 10 minutes because they dry hard otherwise and wanted advice on what I could use other than softener sheets. The tennis balls seem a good idea.0 -

Hope I haven't offended!?
I only suggested ideas regarding the washer because of your comment:I can't use sofner in my washing machine at the moment because its blocked for some reason
As for my opinion regarding the use (or lack of) a TDit's a discussion board + moneysaving website = people express a multitude of opinions, often varying, sometimes contradictory to one another. My opinion isn't a critisism of your ways and means; my advice re the washer only given on the information you presented.
Have fun with your balls~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
