I tried the one bucket of water to wash and one to rinse on the car. Did a good enough job for me! I used the watering can to rinse it. My toddler thought it was hilarious!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Pretty interesting. Nice family. I couldn't say I learned anything this time. Would love to live in one of those eco houses though. And I really dug the very old-style slow cooker!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

They started off by saying they were very committed to the ecology... although they hadn't actually done anything about it yet...

Hm.
What's that saying? About all it takes for everything to go to pieces is for good men to do nothing... And the road to hell is paved by good intention...
It's easy to drift on wanting things to change but never doing anything about it. Maybe that's something good coming out of this programme. Maybe some people will make a start. That's good to be good.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I was quite annoyed as I didn't think it taught anybody a lot either. Last night's should have been a good programme for me as I really need to cut our fuel bills but they either didn't show how or went to the extremes. I can't insulate my loft (don't have one), would love a new condensing boiler (can't afford it), surely there are other ways
I am going to make a load of draught excluders this year though as I'm sure a lot of our heat gets lost through drafty doors and I can't afford to replace those either.

With regard to the eco houses and the windows in the conservatory thing that trapped heat for the rest of the house - fine if there actually is some heat out there - but what about winter, isn't that going to be rather chilly, was it special glass? I didn't understand that.0

There is a special glass that is used for it's heating properties (Pilkington K), this glass has been used in the industry for years in conservatories etc. I expect a type of this glass was used to build the eco-houses. It's a lot more expensive but worth it for it's heat retaining ability.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
