  • I've been a bit too relaxed with the gas this week I think but it has been colder than usual.:rolleyes:
    I'm still on a 'C' thankfully.:jGonna try for a 'B' this week.

    I'll soon be on ebico too so that will actually reduce how much I pay as there will be no standing charge :jI can't switch until I have paid this bill moneys tight so its a bit of a catch 22. The bills just arrived this morning and is waaay overestimate :D. So I need to give them the readings etc.

    Edit: Rank = 22 / 47.

    Readings below:

    You have been taking readings for 8 weeks

    Since you started measuring your total household -
    Energy use is 380 kWh (Gas: 199kWh | Electricity: 181kWh)
    Carbon emissions are 136 Kg CO2 (Gas: 41 Kg CO2 | Electricity: 95 Kg CO2)
    Money Spent

    How has my energy spend been calculated?

    Last week you spent:

    * £2.31 on gas
    * £3.48 on electricity

    Total you have spent on energy since starting imeasure (8 weeks ago):

    * £6.98 on gas
    * £21.72 on electricity

    The result on my graph is quite scary as both electricity and gas are rising at the same time:eek: .

    Hi All,

    Hope you don't mind me joining in. I submitted my first readings today so i've nothing to say at the moment. I'm kinda nervous about doing this!

    Off to bed now for a cuddle with Bertie, my hot water bottle. :D

    Curley.

    Good Luck:T:T

    Same here but I think it's to be expected if we want to survive winter and let's face it, we can hardly say we had a great summer. I think the only way to avoid slipping down the carbon rating is if you have oil-fired central heating, an open fire or solid fuel with a back boiler for hot water. None of these things count on here (yet?)
    I wish I had a windmill, a woodburner and back boiler! :D
    I reserve the right not to spend.
    The less I spend, the more I can afford.

    Hi all,

    I've been following this thread with interest and joined up with i-measure a few weeks ago when it was first mentioned here. I (& my husband) live in a top-floor Victorian tenement flat and since I've moved in 2 years ago have aimed to keep our energy bills below that of the previous owners - they paid £30 a month for each. We're currently on £21 for electricity and £25 for gas although the gas is likely to increase in price soon as we've not really had a proper winter with our current supplier (last year they had us paying £33, at the end of the winter we were massively in credit so they dropped it to £3 a month and I've only just persuaded them to change it - no help with budgeting at all!). Unfortunately on i-measure there are only 6 households with two people living in a flat, but still it's useful to be able to compare. When I first joined we were only being compared with 2 others and our electricity was much higher than average which was slightly alarming! We're currently on a band C. We had our boiler replaced in May but have used it only once since then on a particularly cold evening when we had guests for dinner & didn't want them to freeze! So I have no idea how much gas we'll use over the winter.

    Oooh, I just changed my settings to compare our results with all other households of the same number of occupants (48 households) and our rating is now a B, hooray!
    I think I'll stick with the settings as they were though as this is more of a challenge...

    Hi Sui Dreams,

    Well I got a right shock :eek: when I put on my Gas CH for only 20 mins to check the pipes, our daily usage went from 0.53 metric units the previous day to 1.11 metric units and the only thing I had done any differently was put on the heating for that short period of time....I was appalled.

    As I don't have a conversion chart to hand I don't know exactly how many Kwh this is ......apart from way too many! But is will keep the mind focussed for 1st Nov...even if I'm wearing 20 jumpers and a duvet to keep me warm! :rotfl:

  • Just got my SP bill for £112 and gave them my actual readings. New bill is £84 for 103 days. Had a check through my old bills, cant find September last year, which I am sure was £120. 2006 bill was £104.

    Edit: I haven't got another bill below a hundred quid for here so its at least 3 years.

    Currently cooking with electric:eek:, pay a standing charge:eek: and have no insulation:eek:, large single glaze sash windows:eek: in an end of row:eek:, high ceilinged:eek:, ground floor flat:eek:.

    Mission move t'internet to bedroom radiator and stack loads of duvets over a gazebo:j:j. Or move to the bedroom at least.

    Did a quick check on kilowatts per day then (Sept 2006) and now:

    Elec.

    2006: 5.35 per day ( 471 kWh / 88 days)

    2008: 3.45 per day ( 355 kWh /103 days; 303 kWh based on 88 days)

    Gas
    2006: 14.23 per day (1252kWh / 88 days) :eek: (this was summer what was I thinking!?)

    2008: 3.08 per day (317kWh / 103 days; 270 kWh based on 88 days)

    Nyk, I'm still on an "E" rating and we do have both oil heating and a coal fire.
