Well I got a right shock  when I put on my Gas CH for only 20 mins to check the pipes, our daily usage went from 0.53 metric units the previous day to 1.11 metric units and the only thing I had done any differently was put on the heating for that short period of time....I was appalled.
As I don't have a conversion chart to hand I don't know exactly how many Kwh this is ......apart from way too many! But is will keep the mind focussed for 1st Nov...even if I'm wearing 20 jumpers and a duvet to keep me warm! :rotfl:

Mama67, how does it work when you compare with all households, so there's a bigger spread and you still get the per person calculation? I had to do an 'all households' comparison because there were so few households the same as mine and no category to describe the type of house I'm in at the momentI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Totally agree with your actions, I have been trying to do the same things and like you bought an energy meter thing which you plug your applicances into and it tells you the usage. Now being an accountant I then went one step further and created a spreadsheet to model my electricty usage by appliance, inlcuding lights and standby costs. I could then make decisions about what to switch off etc.
The biggest user was my fridge freezer which uses 30% of all our electricity! I wish I had thought about things a bit more when I bought it 3 years ago, I would then have bought a better rated one.
I have kids as well but its a struggle getting them to turn lights/TV's etc off, anyone got any suggestions other than shouting, lol!0 -
My carbon results are as follows. Best I can see is per household is good but per person is below average if I am seeing it right.
Your results are being compared with the averages of 129 households.
Carbon emissions Kg CO2
...............Last week ..Last Month ..Last Quarter
Per person ....29 (22) ....16 (18) .....0 (18)
Per household .29 (57) ....16 (51) .....0 (43)
Gas use as kWh
...............Last week ..Last Month ..Last Quarter
Per Person ....66 (46) ....28 (32) .....0 (39)
Per Household .66 (117) ...28 (86) .....0 (82)
Electricity use as kWh
...............Last week ..Last Month ..Last Quarter
Per Person ....29 (24) ....20 (23) .....0 (19)
Per Household .29 (65) ....20 (64) .....0 (50)0 -
I like your results CaroB. And a 'B'. Excellent. The carbon rating fluctuates on a Monday Tuesday while were putting our results in.
