Hi SMF certainly no less than that it's not worth it though with the two jumpers, hat and thick walking socks it is fine. That said a weekly budget with daily monitoring is called for I think. I think the flat might be feeling more than me at the moment.0 -
if i compare with similar houses i have carbon rating C and if i compare with all housetypes then it move to a B.
i would think that it would be better to link this reading to an overall average for the country rather than housetypes.0 -
I had a look how the rating changes for different categories for my readings.
The weekly email mentioned how singletons can reduce their carbon footprint by sharing accommodation. The 'Last Month' column for 'Per person' and 'Per household' for singletons is telling
Carbon emissions Kg CO2
...............Last week ....Last Month ..Last Quarter
Per person ....29 (22) (D) ..16 (19)(D*)..0 (19)
Per household .29 (57) (B) ..16 (51)(A) ..0 (45)
Gas use as kWh
...............Last week ....Last Month ..Last Quarter
Per Person ....66 (47) (D) ..28 (34)(D) ..0 (39)
Per Household .66 (119)(B) ..28 (87)(A) ..0 (83)
Electricity use as kWh
...............Last week ....Last Month ..Last Quarter
Per Person ....29 (24) (D) ..20 (23)(D) ..0 (20)
Per Household .29 (64) (B) ..20 (64)(A) ..0 (52)

our electricity use is very high , we are both at home all day . i wanted to get one of those energy meters from aldi and was met by the (sensible response), what if one of our appliances is high? - what will you do? - unfortunately / or not, we are not in the position to just go out and buy a more efficient model :love: married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090

I was in same position and couldn't afford to change my apliances but it really has helped. For instance with my washing machine - having 'tested' each of the cycles I can really see a difference in price and have changed how I wash (not putting it all in on a 40 apart from bedding/towels).
Knowing how much its costing to do certain things has made me really conscious of not wasting anything. I was a toad for boiling a kettle, chatting and then reboiling it - sometimes doing that 2 or 3 times. Wouldn't do that now, not on your nelly!MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

My CH has kicked in over the last couple of days for about 10 minutes in morning and evening. It is set to come on at 18 degs. This has pushed our use from 8 KWH per day to 17 kwh per day. At the cost of £0.02888 per KWH that is a rise of about 25p per day.
So the cost of our hot water is 23p per day and with the extra heating the cost per day the cost has become 48p
I think I'm becoming an energy use nerd:rotfl:
