Yes - I hadn't realised you could just buy the frying basket so went for the whole thing and gave my old one to my sister so I spent far more than necessary!
I think the basket on it's own was £4.99.

When I do Roast Potatoes in my Actifry, I don't pre-boil them. Just coat in oil and add to the machine. Even my mum liked them done in that.
If anybody has one of those combination Air Fryer/Halogen Ovens, surely you can do them that way in there .0 -
I can't vouch for the Aldi one but I have this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Andrew-James-Premium-Replaceable-WARRANTY/dp/B00BXIHY8E/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1389204153&sr=8-4&keywords=andrew+james+halogen+oven and have used it practically every day since it arrived. I only use my main oven for warming plates! I thoroughly recommend them.
You don't need to use all that energy to warm plates... Just dampen them with water and pop in the microwave.... Result = lovely hot plates but cool on the edge where they weren't dampened0 -

The JML basket is 4.99 but its also free postage. The same basket on AMazon is 19.99.
Just had an Andrew James one delivered today and I only ordered It Saturday. Used it tonight for shepherds pie. Very pleased although it is quite noisy.0 -
My Mum and Dad are on their second halogen oven and, I've got to be honest, it's pretty awesome. I've heard that the element doesn't last long so probably best to buy a cheapy £25 one than a £40+ one - My parents first bought a £90 off of the shopping channel - it had a bit in the bottom which span so they could make chips and it would turn them, but the downside was that if they wanted to make a stew or something liquid based they would have to put a bowl into the dish part of the oven as any liquid would have broken the spinny thing. The element went and they bought a £25 cheapy one - no spinny thing, so they can put liquids direct into it. Much easier to clean, aswell.
The thing I like best in there is hash browns! Cooks them much better than the oven. And Jacket potatoes only take an hour in there, whereas in the oven they take more like 2hours0 -
Right i'm after a bit more advice now, I actually went for the Aldi cheapy one to see how I get of with it first, purchased on Sunday and now to scared to use it!! Do I just pop the things I want to cook on the shelf parts? I'm cooking sausage and mash tonight and normally cook an onion with the sausages in the oven, so how can I do this? Sausages straight on the shelves and forget about the onions, or pop the onions in a little dish with the sausages and put them in?? HELP!!0

That was one of the reasons I went for the JML one as you can change the element if it goes. As far as I know this is the only make of halogen that you can do that with. Although I expect the other makes will do that as well shortly!

I tend to use dishes in mine, so put the sausages and onion in a dish, place on the shelf, put the lid on, set the temperature and timer and off you go.
