I bought a CookShop halogen oven (11 litre) from Ideal World 14 months ago. I wouldn't be without it, & use it every single day. (Along with my slow cooker sometimes)
Haven't even used my gas cooker/oven since I got the halogen oven in March 2012 as I do all my cooking in the halogen!!!!!
Best invention ever in my eyes. Cuts down on cooking time & no pans to wash up.
My mum has 2, one at home & one for her caravan. It was her who recommended them to me & I've never looked back since!0 -
Ive got a pork shouldar joint in mine. Tried it last week 4 hours or longer if you prefer, turning every hour or so at 140 degrees. Its like a hog roast, meat moist but not falling apart, and crackling!!!!Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

I've had my halogen oven (Andrew James 12 ltr Premium Digital) for a week now, and haven't used my main oven at all; although all the meals I've done have been experimental, they have so far all turned out well. Right now I have the second half of a Victoria sponge in it, with a flapjack, and a rhubarb crumble waiting to go in. I know they could all have gone in the main oven together but mine has become so unreliable that I hate using it.
I ordered my halogen oven through Amazon UK on Tuesday last week, and it arrived on the Friday, which is great considering it had to come to France!

I bought mine from Ideal World because it had the hinged lid.
It's one of the best things I've ever bought. I'm roasting a chicken as I type.I only use my big oven when I'm batch baking pasties or bread.
I even roasted the pork and turkey in it at Christmas despite having the big oven on for roasties, because it's fab for any meat.
I always struggle with beef but the last joint was delicious ,well cooked but still juicy .With the extender ring I managed a whole leg of lamb, which like the beef was juicy and tender.0 -
Just a quick note I use my halogen all the time, its so simple but it did get a bit of getting use to. I tried a cake that wasn't successful at all, but the second time I did it it worked fine. The only down side is the queueing of dishes for cooking I suppose but I combine mine with the microwave and hob if needed and its great.
Have to say my DD3 doesn't agree, the halogen she had as a wedding present is the one I use, she gave to me after she tried it for one dish that didn't turn out, but Im very happy with it.

hi im moving to an unfurnished house without any appliances and thinking of getting one of these however, however most of the reviews on here say its great for meat and i'm veggie! any recipes or recipe threads? Id like to learn to be making savoury pastry pies would it work in one of these?
I have a microwave and a slow cooker, recommendations for portable hob would also be great.
thanks loads, hopefully this will save shelling out £200 for a cooker i'll barely use0 -
Don't worry about recipes. It's an oven. Anything you can cook in an oven you can cook in this in exactly the same way. The only thing to do different is use 10% less time and 10% less temperature.0

Hello.
Did a forum search and nothing came up. was wondering if anyone would be interested in swapping halogen oven recipes.
I know through a few people that some don't come with recipe books. Mine didn't but my nans did. I think with autumn and winter coming up. Im urging to cook and eat roasts. and theres just certain things I don't want to do in my slow cooker. Any one with meit might not be much, but its better than a kick in the teeth:rotfl:
