  • I see that Argos are doing the JML.

I like the idea that I can go back to Argos if there is any fault like the bulb going and you can buy a warranty so you end up with three years cover.

Ordering online or by tel is good but if the item develops a fault you then have to send it back.

Usually I do buy stuff online but I'm not convinced at the moment on the reliability of the Halogen ovens so I'd really prefer a shop buy.
  • I also read the article in the Daily Mail on wednesday, seems halogen ovens are getting more popular.

I wish id bought mine from a shop,id have taken it back, but the cost of P+P to return it to Ideal world made me decide to keep it...it is used every weekend for bacon for breakfast, and other than the occassional toasted cheese snack, bagel heat,it lies idle on the worktop.
my 1ST(and last)chicken cooked in it,wasnt good at all...initially was undercooked,by the time the inside was cooked, the outside was all dry and hard, cant remember how long, but it took ages to cook.
A pasta bake(pkt pasta sauce mix, with dried pasta added),took almost 2hrs,!!,normal oven wouldve taken 50mins.HM bread was a disaster too.
As ive said, its a very good grill, but rubbish as an oven...plus my ideal world one seems to have a design fault in the lid, when lifted fully to check food, the small safety button at the back, under the halogen lamp needs repeatedly pressed to get it heating again,it has to be switched off at the mains for this otherwise theres the risk of a serious hand burn,
certainley wouldnt replace it with another(unless i learn how to use it more effectively)

Week 10,total weightloss is now 13.5lbs Week 11 STSweek 14(I think)..-2, total loss now 1 stone exactly
    GOT TO TARGET..1/2lb under now weigh 10st 6.5(lost 1st 3.5lbs)

I wonder why they didn't test the obvious one there?

I'm tempted to add one of these little things to my cluttered kitchen..I bought someone else one a while ago and they love it

Fortunately these days with being able to use various online shipping companies it won't cost too much to return and this one comes with all the accessories. The extender itself sounds like a must for baking and larger chickens. Plus this one got a better write up than the JML one.
Still excited about getting my one.

  • I've just ordered the JML from Bettaware at £59.99. I have been inspired by this thread but I will let you know how it performs!

has anyone cooked a casserole in their halogen? I'm thinking of doing one tomorrow rather than turning on my main oven

I am having the same problem cooking a casserole. I have put ingredients directly into the bowl and into a dish inside the bowl using the low stand.
Never gets sufficiently hot to cook thoughout. Any advice please from successful users.
  • I do hope it lives up to the hype - I've just bought one of the e-bay ones for £55.90 all in. I'm a sucker for kitchen gadgets - they all live in the utility room and take turns in the kitchen. Pressure cooker, slow cooker and breadmachine get the most use - actifry maybe once a month for chips or roast potatoes with left over roast. Only one that's never been used is the pasta maker!
  • I received my JML halogen oven day before yesterday. I was quite exited but when I tried it out last night it did not work. I have returned it to Bettaware and am waiting to hear from them.
