Table-top halogen ovens

Hi, Well I think the idealworld one is the best but they all have a halogen bulb and and it's this that goes. So whichever one you go for you take your chance on the bulb blowing. Ideal world refunded my money when mine went within the year and I'm now waiting for them coming back in stock. They're approx 60.00 now but you get all the racks, tongs, extension etc. and I think that it cooks better than the smaller ones because the top rack is higher, the lid is hinged and it's bigger and the racks don't tip sideways when you're cooking.
Jinnyn
A bit puzzled here. Is there some reason why the bulb just can't be changed? Is it cost effective to do so? Sorry if this is a silly question. I know nothing about these ovens but am considering getting one myself.0 -
The bulb doesn't plug in, it's attatched to the wire.0

ive got one of these and can i say
chicken at 250deg PLS DONT your burn the skin with out the chicken being cooked
ive just done one of the tescos £2 chickens in mine and i did it at 175 for an hour and 25mins and it is heven

I got confused with this, but it's actually 250 for first 15 minutes then reduce temp.0 -

Thanks, I have wondered about this. Do you happen to know how it is attached?
What I would like to know is if it is an "off the shelf halogen bulb" with a couple of wires soldered to it, or is it a special bulb only made/sold to halogen oven makers.
My oven is working perfectly so don't want to unscrew anything to see for myself.0 -

Yes I got it mail order, when I looked on the website I thought it was out of stock but I rang to see when it would be back in and it was in stock. Its the large one and it was around £50 but does come with the extender collar, 2 racks, 2 different baking trays and the tongs. One of the reasons I went for this one is the fact that the lid doesn't come off, but, as someone else said on here, allow for this when considering where to put it, I did have to do a bit of rearranging but have it in a corner.0 -
I think it's a special bulb that is only made for Halogen Oven Makers. When my oven went back to Idealworld I was told that it would be mended if possible or my money refunded if not. They refunded my money. My husband had unscrewed everything and we couldn't see how we could have mended it.0

Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to know.0 -
I tried my JML for the first time yesterday, successfully cooked a salmon steak, it was nicer than microwaved and the meal only took me about half an hour or so to make. I sort of grilled it on the top rack at 190 degrees, coating top side with butter and turning over half way thru. Came out slightly crispy on top. Think it was about 12 mins each side, kept an eye on it. Took about 5 mins to preheat oven.0

Just found it is possible to download a halogen cookbook with basic times from the ideal world tv site. Anyone got any idea if these times would work with a JML oven? http://www.idealworld.tv/common/downloads/Halogen_Oven_Recipe_Book.pdf0

This is the recipe leaflet that i got with my Ideal world Halogen...ive made thge scones perfect and the chips are a treat, they cook well....I would think as long as you cook food at the same temperature then these recipes would cook just as well in the JML one...good luck.
