Table-top halogen ovens

After I sent my ideal world halogen back for either repair or refund they refunded my money. I was disappointed because I loved it. I'm going to wait until they have them again and then order one. I have the smaller one that I bought but I don't like it half as much. It's too small for what I want and the racks are too low. Jinnyn0

You don't need any special recipes, it's just an oven and you can do anything you would do in a normal oven. You do need to get to know it tho, and don't stick religiously to recipe temperatures and timings. All ovens are different, and just because Jamie Oliver's oven cooks chicken to perfection at X temperature for Y minutes it doesn't mean yours will. You will have to adjust the temperature and time a little to match your oven.

Stick with them both and learn how they cook, once you get the hang of the temperature and timings you'll be fine.0 -
Thank you for your information but when I clicked on the halogen it says it is out of stock. I've asked for an email when they have them back in stock.

Hi Cooking-mama
I didn't have any problems with closing the lid. I found this halogen perfect I could cook practically anything in it. I absolutely loved it.

I have a JML oven and it took me some time to get used to it but its ok now. I do use cooking bags (from pound shop) to cook a chicken and it comes out very moist. I have never tried to cook a whole meal in it but it grills chops and cooks pies ok, also roast potatoes are ok. I use it for meats that take some time to cook, chicken and joints to save on fuel. I have ordered the cookbook as mentioned on here, I wish I could have bought it when I got oven but manage without the extra dishes they sell.0

I wonder sometimes if we try to cook things too quickly as they are advertised as being so much faster than a conventional oven. I find that I have best results when I start stuff off on a lower temperature and then wack it up towards the end for browning or crisping up jacket potatoes.
We are mainly veggie so I am talking about Quorn fillets, escallopes, sausages etc.
I have cooked fish in my halogen wrapped in foil - it turned out very nicely. I tend to cook it for the same amount of time as conventional oven but lower heat.
I would not be without it and God forbid this one packed up after a year, I would get another in a heartbeat. After all it works out about a £1 a week or less.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

That should work. Just keep checking how it's doing and alter the temperature to suit. Jinnyn0

Hi
I am interested in a halogen oven, and have spent a while looking at this thread.
Woolworth's is defunct. My local T J Hughes does not have any, and so on.
Does anyone have an oven that has both stood the test of time, and is still available on mail order, and in stock?
I was thinking in the £40 to £60 range. Of course, the cheaper the better, but I would rather pay a bit more for something that will not break in a months time.
Thanks in advance0
