I have been using my new halogen oven but I must admit I find it a bit small compared to the Ideal World one and I liked the fact that the lid was on a hinge on the ideal world one. I wrote an email to ideal world and told them about the bulb going in mine and they told me to pack it up and they would pick it up today (which they have done) and they will either fix it or renew it. Will let you know if they do. Jinnyn

YES but I had ordered it online and they keep a record of your past orders on your account so that could see that I had just ordered it in january.

has anyone cooked a casserole in their halogen? I'm thinking of doing one tomorrow rather than turning on my main oven

I just cook it as I would in a normal oven. (I put it in a casserole dish and place it on the bottom rack). I put the heat slightly lower than in the ordinary oven.

We use the defrost option before cooking any frozen stuff. For example we had some of those frozen roast potatoes and when I cooked them from frozen they were not completely cooked on the inside. Hate that.

Now I try and be prepared. Plus it cooks much faster too.

1 Can you cook from froxen like other types

2 How do you make roast potaoes do you have to part boil first, how do you cook in the halgen, does it have to go in to a tray with oil in please help as i have the famiy coming over and want to impress lol.

3 Where would one be able to get hold of a recipe book and a general book to show the basics.

    Thanks for any help

Hi Windsor, saw you thread and thought I could help with question 3.

I have just found the Halogen Handbook on the jmldirect.co.uk website which gives recipies for their halogen oven. Dont think it makes much difference if you have an oven from another supplier though as I am sure they can be adapted.

Item code is H1505 and dont forget to goto the website through Quidco for 5% cashback (it all adds up)

Am really interested in getting one of these, but it seems many models just broke down about 12 months?

Just wondering if anyone still have their halogen going strong after 12 months? Thanks!
  • I bought the Ideal World Halogen oven at the end of Aug,(its fan assisted but not infra red like nu wave)it looks very impressive on the worktop But,im having problems(like most people on here)finding advice/recipes to use with it,Ideal world send a wee mini recipe booklet which is a start, but my roast chicken was either pink or dried out, turkey breast fillet went all rubbery, only success ive had was with scones, toasted chees n onion and it is good for grilling, has anyone tried cooking anything like stuffed chicken breasts?,im tempted to try but with free-range chicken being so expensive im worried il ruin them...
oh and for what its worth, ive also recently bought a Remoska, and im struggling with that too:eek:
