A big thank you to MSE
We got our house and contents renewal from Direct Line and it was a staggering £416 so we followed the instructions on this site. It took half a day but well worth the effort as we are now insured for almost the same policy for £171
Don't know how to thank MSE enough.0 -

I'm trying to get contents insurance for a modest amount of stuff (value <£5000). I've tried the different comparison sites and it appears to be a toss up between Shelias' Wheels and the AA. This raises a number of questions which I hope my fellow moneysavers can help me with:
1. Is shelia's wheels going to be detrimental to me because I'm not a woman? Question raised by the "insurance with women in mind slogan" at the top of the site and I'm wondering if they're man friendly. Mind you, I co-habit with my partner who is female.
2. When trying to get a quote from SW, I entered my partners' details as co-holder. She is currently a postgrad student to which the site said they couldn't give me a quote and would have to phone. Should I put my partner down as a co-holder or will be penalised? about a third of the stuff in the house belongs to her.. On the other hand, is there a benefit from her being a student?
3. I don't know what kind of lock I have on my door. all I know is it's a Union brand manually operated by a latch key. It is opened by hand from the inside. One worry is that someone could smash out a panel in the door and then reach inside to open it. Should I get a mortice lock that you need a key at all times with?
Thanks,
LT

It is more than 90 days now since I "try it" for "morethan" combined buildings and home and I have yet to receive my £80 house of fraser voucher through this website.
I am beginning to wonder it is because I use a library computer?
yours sincerely
very disappointed.
PS.I did e-mailed this website on the 7th November and did get a reply on the 10th.0 -
My house and contents renewal came through at £250 and I managed to get it for £170 from Halifax with the added bonus that they are going to pay my £70 in a weeks. I think I can count on the cash back as it is from them not a cash back site.Sell £1500

Hi, We have purchased a house for my son to live in. It's not buy-to-let. He pays no rent. We own the property, but do not live there. We're having trouble finding an insurer to to offer House (not contents) insurance if we don't live in it. The contents insurance will be in his name. I don't need or want to go down the Landlord's insurance route, as there is no rent involved now or in the future. IF he should move out and we went down the buy-to-let route that would be different of course. Any suggestions of an insurer please? Many thanks.0
