This is what we're having
Sausage and tomato pie:
ingredients:
8 sausages = 0.50 (yellow sticker counter or use frozen ones)
1 large onion = 0.10 (estimate from last receipt)
1 tin plum tomatoes = 0.19 (value ones from Tesco, similar in Sainsburies?)
squirt tomato puree = 0.04 (estimate)
dessert spoonful plain flour (to thicken it up) = 0.01 (estimate)
pinch mixed herbs = 0.01 (estimate)
twist of black pepper = 0.01
potatoes (sliced so they're about half a centimetre thick enough to cover pie dish) = 0.35
= 1.21 for 4
Cook sausages and then leave to cool, once cooled slice them up. In a frying pan or wok add your onion (diced) and a little oil. Cook off the onion, add the sliced sausages and then the plum tomatoes (chop these up before putting them in), add the herbs and pepper and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Meantime par boil the sliced potatoes (about 8 minutes). Check the sausage and tomato, add the flour and give it a good stir. Drain potatoes. Put sausage mixture into an oven proof dish and top with the potatoes. Put in oven (about 180C) until golden and bubbling (takes about 20-25 mins in a preheated oven).

Hi Heavenleigh, DS and I are having birds eye Chicken & Veg Pie, Mashed Potatoes and Peas.
Have managed to Hang out the washing, clean out the freezer, tidy the garage and sort out the clothes to take back.
Next is the ironing then the hoovering but I need new filters for the hoover before I start that (well that's my excuse!).
I have man coming from Boxclever (rental company) to fix my washing machine, it is leaking and not clicking onto the rinse and spin part of the wash. He has just phoned to say he will be here by 1, that's good service cause I only phoned this morning!
Right time to finish my lunch and set up the ironing board.
See you all later xxx0 -
Have just taken home made Tandoori chicken pieces out of the oven to cool for tonight.
Found my Tightwad gazette recipe for muffins and just put a dozen apple and cinnamon ones in the oven and made up an apple and fruit loaf ready to go in later to bake.
Have just found details of house that looks ideal on Rightmove but no point getting my hopes up as we do not have a buyer for ours yet!
Having home made rolls for lunch and even DH seems to like them!

Afternoon all :hello:
PenPen... Glad you're ok.Was the 18year old a handsome young male?
Catznine.... Well done to your DS. :j
Pooky... That's great news about your DD's maths and the grandparents footing the bill.
Churchie... Glad you enjoyed your weekend.
Aussie... How's your sister?
Lesley... Sorry things are so rough for you and your DD. x
Tired mum.. I meant to say... Your children looked lovely in the photo yesterday.
it's been another reasonably busy day here. Got the usual stuff out of the way quite early this morning and have managed to wash the windows, do some filing and begin the holiday packing this afternoon. OH came home for lunch with some business cheques so I've been to the bank to pay those in and now I'm going to make a start on tea as I'm tending to find myself very tired by late afternnon and disinclined to make anything too complicated.
Got a lovely card from the vets this morning saying how sorry they were that they had been unable to do anything more for Parsley and saying that we did the best for her in the end. It set me off again I'm afraid and I think we will need another cat soon as I hadn't realised how much I talked to her all day and she followed me round the garden in the nice weather so I'm missing her. Our other cat is very independant and not very cuddly.
As part of the ongoing clearing of the freezer OH and the girls are having pork steaks with mash and tarragon cream sauce while I'll be having lambs liver with the same. (I'm the only liver eater in the house)
More ironing tonight and another early night as I seem to be permanently pooped.
Take care

PENPEN ouch!, hugs to you.
Welcome back DLB and well done on the weight loss.
Had a lovely time at the allotment. Had a phone call from my manager and she is refering me to occupational health which I knew she would have to do.
have planted some more veg seeds.
I should be studying, but the garden is calling.
Dinner is using up stuff in the freezer, probably scampi, oven chips and salad or veg.
Catch you later.

Morning all
That was a lovely gesture of the vet Haribo. Have a sob story myself of the animal kind. My son and his wife got a 12 week old labrador from the RSPCA a couple of months ago and found that it was aggravating my DGD's asthma so decided that they would sadly have to get rid of him. We were all very upset but knew no one who could look after him. I would have like a shot but didnt feel it was fair leaving him all those hours while I was at work. My DS then heard that an old neighbour of theirs had lost their labrador about a month ago so he took his life into his hands and went round and explained the situation. They came and saw Toto (DGD is a big Wizard of Oz fan!!!) and fell in love with him and he is now them them, and will hopefully settle down and have a happy doggy life.
Hoovered through and gave the bathroom a good scrubbing. Just had my Tesco shopping delivered so its just the ironing calling me now.
Have a good day everyone0 -
Hi everyone
Went to weigh in this morning, and have lost another 1 lb :j
Then met Dazi (a fellow OSer) for the first time, she is lovely and has kindly given me some lilac shoes and a bag to go with my wedding outfit :A
We had a coffee and a mooch around the shops, and were very good, and hardly spent anything. I called into W H Smith on the way back to the car, and found Beach Babylon which is written by the same person as Hotel Babylon, and Air Babylon, so i shall probably read it in one go later.
I'm doing chilli for dinner, and bought some mince from M & S, it was 2 packs on special offer for £6 - I must be mad, £3 for a pack of mince
Pen Pen, hope you are OK, good job you had your helmet on.You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
