It was me that posted the GE money article - I had a Debenhams card (GE Money) with a huge balance and am now a little concerned about this. At the moment CL Finance seem happy to accept the DMP and it is all going smoothly. Guess I will just have to read any A&L terms and conditions updates very carefully

Think this topic answers our question, someone owed Halifax, debt was sold onto Blair Oliver & Scott in the Halifax group and £3k was taken out a Halifax account.

So maybe to be on the safe side it could be worth changing things a little - which is quite scarey as I bank with Cahoot and A&L, may have to switch things over to the Yorkshire Bank, hubby has an account with them but its not in joint names and to put it in joint names Yorkshire make you reapply for the account.

    Not ideal.
  • rayday and maz, thank you both for your support and words of encouragement. I feel suitably ready to tackle whatever is thrown at me. Mind you, my brain cell is feeling a bit tired and I've gone meat free this week (to keep shopping costs down) and all I can think about now is a bacon sandwich!

Mind you, apart from that I've had some lovely meals this week which has been very cheap without the meat!

See you soon and take care :)

Off topic but has Andytwonames been in the topic this week - and if not what was the weather like "down saff" on the weekend ;)
We "soft southern jessies" got rained upon on and off on Saturday which spoiled the fun a bit.

Sunday the sun beat down on us at the London Bikeathon. We arrived to see a couple of Gazebos being constructed and started to help. Gazebo 1 had the roof put on and 6 of us raised it to its full height. Then we found that the roof was on inside out and so there was nothing to attach the guy lines to. Having sorted that, we found Gazebo 2 had no roof at all so we improvised with a tarpaulin (which I had taken in case of wet weather) and reels of gaffer tape.

A good stage hand can fix anything with gaffer tape. Even credit histories.

    Hello there :)

I might buy some gaffer tape now, maybe you should set a website up offering a credit quick fix and post them out tape lol

Whoopie we switched to economy middle bacon that is as far as my meat cut back can go! We don't eat meat every day but I buy it every week.

    Hi guys,

Can I officially join your group pleeease? After a near breakdown and endless soul seeking over the past couple of months, i've made the decision to opt for a DMP opposed to bankruptcy. Of course i'm still worried that I might be made bankrupt by my creditors anyway, (I owe around £80k to my absolute shame) but will give a DMP my best shot in the meantime. I received my pack from CCCS today, and I have to admit it made me cry seeing everything in black and white. BUT, with the support of you lovely people on here i'm hoping i'll be able to turn my life around and get back to being my "usual self" again soon. Baby steps. :)

I'm hoping i'll be able to grow my small business, perhaps even take on some part-time work, up my DMP payment, as well as putting back some money each month if possible for full and final's. Does that sound like a good plan? Any words of encouragement would be much appreciated. :)

    Hi Lisa

your doing well, you are trying to do something about the situation you are in and thats good

remember to take each step at a time, get your forms filled in and send them off ;)

Then think about ways you can cut expeniture/make more money

hang in there you can do it ;)

I find it difficult to plan food shopping and meals etc:rolleyes: so i am going to try my best to do that this week

Has anyone had dealings with Halifax? How are they at accepting a DMP?
  • Afternoon folks. Rayday, we are having bacon tonight! I've been meat free for a week so decided bacon sarnies were in order. It's back to the veggies again tomorrow as I've found loads of recipes and it's keeping the grocery cost down quite a bit at the moment.

Lisa, try and keep positive and have goals to achieve as this really helps. Once your DMP is up and running you will feel much better. As rayday says, we don't know what is around the corner but if we cover all angles and keep positive, we can deal with whatever is thrown at us. It's only money after all and the b****ers can't have what we ain't got! ;)
