I have a similar plan LouLo, get on my DMP, whilst my other house is on the market. If i can sell in next 12 months (I have a long term renter in but it doesnt cover the costs) I will have been on the plan for a few months and I hope my creditors will take a full and final offer to get clear. But thats a pipe dream at the moment. If I could get rid of all property, live in rented without debt, I could save a lot of money. there are some lovely houses for rent near me, very upmarket, which cost less than my interest only mortgage!

Help.I have posted on the CCCS advice thread, but I need a reply. I am waiting to start a DMP with payplan, all the paperwork done, but I can't seem to open a basic account due to a shot credit rating. Just tried open a co-op cashminder account - referred to under writers. I have no ccjs, not over overdraft limit, no arrears, just too much credit! What can i do, I cant delay much longer or my bank will realise I cant pay any more and off set my wages, then I am stuck.

If it's been referred it doesn't mean you've been refused does it? Can you ring the bank to see what the situation is?

Are you able to speak to your employer about getting your wage paid in some other way? Do you have a savings account it could be paid into?

I am seeing someone from HR on Monday, but I just need to get it all sorted as I work and have kids etc, I just dont have time to take off work to go up to the post office and mess about with postal order etc. I just want to get a new account set up and know my budget, and my priority payments are set up. I know that being referred isnt a no yet, but I hate not knowing what to do next, or how long it will take to sort out. Thanks fof trying to help folks. It is just so frustrating.

Right, I have just rung the Coop to chase mine with the reference number they emailed me when they turned it down with this:

Thank you for your recent application for a Current Account. Unfortunately, after careful consideration we are unable to open the account you requested.
Our decision is based on information provided by Experian, our credit reference agency.

The guy on the phone has opened it there and then. Try ringing them.

    I think they've finished now but if you ring 08000 284 284.
    Thanks,
    The Co-operative Bank.
    Lines are open:
    8am - 8pm, Mon - Fri
    8am - 5pm, Sat
    9am - 4pm, Sun
I explained about my dreadful credit rating, but he did it over the phone. I think they may be referring everything that has something negative on the credit score. As you read above, you might well be in line for a 'yes'. Ring them in the morning and quote your ref. It worked for me and I have arrears everywhere...

I can't believe the phone call I've just had. For some reason the ansafone didn't kick in when an 0845 number rang. It kept ringing and I just go so angry as it's late and answered it. It was a lady from Barclaycard. I told her about cccs and gave her the reference number and she was amazing. She said not to worry I was doing the right thing and that she would put a hold on the account straightaway so I'd get no more calls and that they'd wait for my letter. She said I could do a plan with them for £40 monthly but that I'd be sensible just paying the £1 token payment if that's all i could afford for now. She said cccs were wonderful but to ring Barclaycard if I needed more advice.

I was telling her that she was the kindest person that I'd had a credit chasing call from and that I was grateful when I just started crying - she was so sympathetic. Felt stupid and I'm now realising that I'm pleased i've done the self admin dmp when I have. This couldn't have gone on any longer without me losing it completely.

    Phew.

LouLou, was that a different current account you applied for first? i applied for a higher level of current account last week and was given a similar "no" letter, and they suggested I might apply for a cashminder, but then when I rang for cashminder they referred me. So are you saying the cashminder account will probably be opened, and I can ring tomorrow to check the status?

Miss KJ - I applied for both Current account and Cashminder account online. I received the same initial rejections on each. I did one after the other late on Monday evening. I think it was more straightforward on the phone because there was a human there to evaluate me and my record rather than the initial 'computer says no' response. Definitely try ringing. In the very least you should get an answer straight away. I've read back through this thread and the consensus is that Cashminder with Coop is the one that works, even for us lot and our money problems. Fingers crossed.

Well, I'm 2 months in and most of the creditors have accepted the CCCS offer with the notable exception of Lloyds TSB.

Seem to be in a bit of a catch 22 with them.

I am reclaiming bank charges from them but they refuse to deal with my case as a priority, and have told me to downgrade my account to one that does not have monthly fees. I am quite happy to do this, but... you can't do it online or on the phone you have to visit the branch in person. Went to a branch on Saturday but was told I have to go to my own branch. My own branch doesn't open Saturdays and I work full time in a different town, so am now in the daft position of having to transfer an account from one branch to another, just so I can change it to a basic acccount, and the new branch can refuse to accept it.

The alternative apparently is to close the account, but they won't do that until I clear the overdraft...which is included in my DMP.. which they will not accept payments on because they are not reducing the debt by enough because of the fees on the account I've got.... and I can't change the account....!

    Bit of a pattern here:confused:

Any one else come across this or have I just dealt with unusually stroppy staff?

    Hi,

I had to do this with Lloyds as I had a Gold account that charged a monthly fee. Just had to change it back to a standard account. All I did was send my branch a letter explaining the situation with DMP and confirming what they requested me to do. My next statement showed the change had been made. This was my last statement however because they defaulted the account the next month!!!:rotfl:

    Hope this helps.
