I always had the house phone switched off for ages and only answered mobile to numbers I knew, but after a while I got fed up of being afraid to answer the phone and my family and freinds(who don't know about my debt) got fed up of phoning and never getting an answer.
In the end after I had made the first steps to my DMP I just plucked up courage to start answering again, and it felt good to be taking control, especially when you've got the magic cccs number to give them.

    Hi all,

Just thought of a question and I don't want to sound stupid but someone might know. If a debt has been sold onto a debt collection agency how do you try and claim your charges back that were put on before it was passed over? There's a couple of mine that I wanted to try and claim back before I get too busy and forget.

Would really appreciate anyones advice. Thanks x

    Hi all!
Just thought I'd post a quick update!

Made my first payment 1st October and curiously my calls have all but disappeared. The few I am getting end quickly as they are quite happy when I re-iterate that I'm on a dmp and they should get a payment on the 25th.

HSBC loan made me chuckle - (I hav 4 debts with HSBC, 2 O/D, Loan (hefty) and CCad). The card as defaulted and recently moved to CapQuest who are much nicer to deal with. The woman who rang re the Loan didnt know what a dmp was, then "magically" found the paperwork, asked me if I could get another job (poke off), than asked if I could add the £5 I was paying to the credit card to the loan as the card is now capquest not HSBC. Ummm no lol, don't have another fiver my dear. Other than the odd "Last arning" letter its all quiet on the western front.

Barclays have accepted the dmp payment and reduced interest to 0.5% (yay!) but have heard nothing from other creditors either way and neither has cccs so its a case ten of aiting until they recieve their first payments and seing what happend then. all good clean fun!

We are still carless but have been able to borrow a car fo £50 a month for this month, and again for next while we try and scrape together enough to buy something else! At least we have one though because no car, no work lol!

A little in limbo with it all but if they arent bothering me - Im happy!

Totallybrasic, I too had twigged about RBOS & BOS! All my dealings with them have been great as long as you continue with your DMP payments. They are polite and efficient.

    Hi guys

I'm joining this thread for some support. After living in denial for the past year, I've just rung CCCS and the lady was so lovely she almost had me in tears. I have my phone interview tomorrow so will get all the info ready tonight.

Don't know too much about the process except that she said my phone calls should stop. Thank god. I have been frightened to pick up the phone in months.

Only one that worries me is Amex or Newman & Co, their debt collection agents who are so aggressive and threaten everything. Anyone dealt with them. I'd like to make a one-off offer to go away but will wait for CCCS advice.

  • Hi Lou, well done on making that first call!! It feels great doesnt it? I had my telephone appt tues and feel sooooo much better and finally sorting my life out. The phone calls may not stop straight away maybe in a couple of months but if it gets so bad just dont answer or if you do say you are dealing wth CCCS and hang up. Dont worry about the debt collectors you have. I have no dealngs with those two you mentioned but they are just using bully tactics to make you make drastic decisions and pay them amounts you cant afford.

I know its hard not to worry but just remember they are loads of us out there in same situation and they cant have what you havent got.

So get all your info ready for your call and then relax for the rest of the day and night knowing you have took the step to sort your problem out. You should feel proud you have took that step.

    good luck

I filled mine online and didn't have to speak to anyone until 6 months later when I had my 1st review.

so were the debts only his sole name? or were some or all in joint
We each had our own debts. Unfortunately, most of them were in my name as I shifted a lot of his Credit Card debts to mine
im confused if only sole name why are they still chasing you? can they legally from his estate then? im unsure if they can
They don't actually "chase" you. THey keep writing and asking for more and more details of his estate :rotfl: By the time the funeral costs are paid, there is about £1000 left on a debt of £27000 and I still want to buy a headstone
im also on the consumeractiongroup forum and there is a lot of stuff on the cca and the legal information. Remember it is our right to a copy of the cca, so good on you requesting it and if they are in default , the accounts are now in dispute - as im doing my own dmp, im still awaiting on my cca too
I belong to this as well and have had a lot of advice.
however, have you had confirmation from cccs they will actually withhold the payment? i would ask for confirmation of this
Yes, I had an email confirming that no more payments will be made.

anyway i do hope you get something resolved if you need further help just shout ciao for now maz

I have, today, had a stupid stupid letter from Egg dated Oc t15 asking for information I have sent by Recorded Delivery on Sept 30

I have written back telling them what I think about their service for grieving relatives.

No it's an either/or thing. The phone interview is basically to go through all the info you typed into the debt remedy so it's the same thing ;)
