My letter and Notice of Debt Management Plan from CCCS has actually already gone to them, they would have received it just yesterday so it must have crossed in the post with the snottygram they sent me.
Question though - do we have to actually ask each of our creditors to freeze interest ourselves? Isn't this something CCCS does in its negotiations with our creditors?
I am not sure as I do my own DMP but for the cost of a stamp its worth it and it will help your case later on for getting your interest paid back (which I believe you will have to do yourself) if you told them that your problems were long term.0 -
I think cccs does ask for the interest to be reduced or stopped but creditors dont have to agree whether it comes from cccs or yourself. Either way, there's no harm in asking yourself as well.
I have just done this with RBS as they have refused to stop interest. Dont know if it will do any good but its worth at try, heres hoping!DMP Support Thread Member 238DMP started October 20080 -
I am on a DMP with CCCS for almost two years now: initially HBOS stopped the interest on the account for a year and since January they started charging interest and late payment fee,s even though CCCS are paying regularly: I owe HBOs even more money now than I did when the plan started. CCCS said they cannot make them do anything: I feel totally powerless. Looking for some advice?:mad:0

Not sure theres anything you can do other than write and ask them again and hope they default the account if they have'nt already. From what I've read on here often its better if they sell on the debt to a DCA but realise every case is different .
Good luck with them.DMP Support Thread Member 238DMP started October 20080 -

I can't believe I have only just realised.. another positive thing about entering the DMP and opening a new bank account is that I can now request 6 years' statements from Abbey and claim back my charges, without worrying about them closing my account and demanding my overdraft be repaid instantly :j
If I am officially entering a DMP through CCCS, does that qualify me as a "financial hardship" case, that they have to settle immediately??! I know the refund of charges (if I get it) will be applied to my overdraft and I won't actually get the cash, but at least that's one debt that goes down a bit, eh?!DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Hi all,
Getting ready to make my first CCCS DMP payment on November 1st. Had letter from CCCS saying they were in the process of sorting out DMP :j
Feeling positive - have had MASSIVE attempt to reduce outgoings and doing very well against budget agreed with CCCS. Food currently running at just over half amount agreed so some savings to be made there I think!:D
Was incredibly happy to get 8 breakfast muffins from Waitrose for 12p! Bargain of the week! Would happily have paid full price of £1.40 a few months ago! We've been meal planning too - it's made a huge differece to our spending and haven't thrown away any food for the last few weeks.
The only (small) downside at the mo are the number of calls we are getting mainly from Barclaycard who phone 5/6/7 times a day and often when my 11 year old comes home from school and is alone for about half an hour  . "barclaycard called AGAIN mum......" Just told her they want us to have more credit cards!(Which she KNOWS are bad bad things now - have been doing lots of educating kids in only spending money you've got - no more advances on pocket money for them !!!!!/////)
Hope all is well with everyone and welcome to the newbies! This board has been a real lifesaver for me

Hi skintandscared
A DMP doesn't automatically qualify you as been in financial hardship. Different companies are treating customers in different ways! SOme are refusing point blank until a final decision has been made about bank charges. Others will only consider people who have very low incomes. It seems to vary but is def worth a try!

ok, cheers. Well I've got nothing to lose by getting a claim in anyway, so I might as well do it. For a tenner to get the statement, it would be worth it if I get it back (or it gets applied to reduce my overdraft). This month I was charged £35 to pay a direct debit while over my overdraft AND £35 to refuse the same direct debit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Hi, I am claiming against the Abbey too, under "Hardship". I put my claim into them just before the court case so they put it on hold, I started my DMP in October so requested that they re-consider my claim in Sept (£1048) so hoping they pay out and soon, will knock a nice chunk off my overall debt (£34k) I have £121 overdraft with them which I have spent the last 18mths bringing down from £1200, basically the overdraft I "owe" them is all fees, I've been living on a budget for about 2 years - the budget did not include charges so I was only paying them off a bit at a time.
I told them again and again I was in financial diffculties and that putting charges on every month would just make if more difficult for me, but banks being banks kept charging me and I ust got more in debt. I sometimes wonder why we use banks ??? Oh yes because there is no alternative, and they are just out to make money, usually from people who don't have any go figure.........
If you have money the banks give you more (in interest) if you don't have money they take it away (charges and overdrafts and interest and and and and.... Banks are evil.
End of rant
Have a nice weekend everyone, I'm working overtime sat & sun then in Mon & Tue then 14 days off work yippeeeeee.........Current Debt £16,364 about to settle following pension payout0
