This is what I am dreading. The phone calls.
Cant use natwest, they are one of my creditors. i was looking for an alternative to co-op as there isnt a branch near me if i need to go in to show my id verification?
Hi
I set up my co-op account over the phone, didn'y need to show any ID in a branch (in fact I've never been into a co-op branch as the post office can do all the transactions).
Had my account number and electron card within a week, and they aslo have on-line banking, no problems at all with them.

I need a bit of help if anyone has been dealing with a company called aegis. I have started a DMP on my own on the 1t of Oct and it is only early days. MBNA have passed my debt onto a company called Aegis. I don't know if they are connected to MBNA or an outside company anyway they have phoned me several times and this morning I get a postcard form Aegis to say that they will be calling on thursday between 8am and 8pm. I dont know if that means that I will get a telephone call from them or that they will turn up on my doorstep. Should I phone them and explain? as I have already done this about three times.
Any help would be great.cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

Hi Catwoman,
Please don't phone them - make sure you have a written record of all communication, don't answer the phone when they call you. Put your offer for reduced payments in writing and send it recorded delivery - keep a record of the proof of delivery in case you ever need to prove it in court.
Somewhere on this forum there's a letter template which you can use to tell them they have no right to come to your home - I 'll look it up and post a link shortly. From what others have said, I think it's unlikely to be more than a scare tactic, though - and if they do turn up, you don't have to answer the door and DO NOT let them inside your home!!! They have no rights.
I also got calls and a text message from Aegis for MBNA debt (A&L credit card), I did try to text back and I got a mesage back saying it was an invalid number! I think they just chase on behalf of MBNA. Since then I've had my DMP offer accepted and interest frozen.:o

Hi Catwoman, here's a link to that template to stop doorstep callers (see post #2):
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=15101895&highlight=trespass#post15101895
I would just carry on paying them regularly, they will probably accept after a couple more monthly payments.
There may be others with more experience of self-managed DMP's who can give more advice (I'm with CCCS, so am letting them deal with my creditors!)
Keep us informed on how you get on with Aegis,
cheers

Send to Aegis, if they are the ones threatening to visit, definitely send to their Birmingham address, the India address is probably only a call centre so will likely take instructions from the head office (and it's a long way for them to come to knock on your door, lol)
I had a read of the thread link I pasted in above and there's some great ideas on handling DCA phonecalls, the "doing the vacuuming" one works for me lol!:T
