  • Hi folks :)

Have just taken the bull by the horns and rang mint!! They sent us 3 seperate letters yest asking for their paymnt/default notice/threaten court etc...
I know we not meant to phone them, but I did and told the girl our circumstances etc, she was nice, said the offer from cccs was acceptable (phew..these are our biggest cc creditors) and that all the letters are standard. Basically they default us first, then their in house collection team arrange the dmp payment.
So if she being truthful then that's 4 down..10 to go :)
The interest this month on that card is £90 so if they don't freeze or reduce then we are in the S***. I completely hadn't taken into account that if they dont stop interest then our debt will rise, and rise and rise!!! doh:(
Oh well another lesson on the DMP trail.

Have a lovely debt busting weekend everyone :)
    xx
:D Life is full of lessons...wish I had been awake in the one entitled 'Do you really need that stuff?' :D

Hi brassic, yeah mint stop interest and charges after you get a default notice. So if you've got those, then you're sorted ;)

It took them 4 months to default me and stop interest :(

They haven't transferred me to anyone else though, still paying them, still no interest ;)

  • Good news for me Halifax credit card have sent me a letter to say that they are reducing my interest on my card to 6.17% down from 22.9%. Not so bad.

They have only done this for three months then they will reveiw it, they have called this an informal arrangment and that I will still get the statements and letters asking for more money. They have also defaulted me as well.

This is my frst acceptance only 3 more credit cards to go. :j :j

After all the credit card companies stop the interest or reduce the interest can I or could I put a claim in for the charges of £12?

  • Made one big decision today. We're due to go on holiday in 2 weeks which we booked and paid for in March. We were going to a friend's apartment in Egypt and it would have been a cheap holiday, just buying food at the supermarket and staying in. But our flights have now been changed 3 times and they've really messed us around. We now have the option of driving to an airport an hour away (instead of our local airport 10 mins away) and paying a week's carparking on top of our spending money, or get a full refund.

We've decided that as our cars need MOT and tax this month we are going to do the right thing and get a refund. So no hol for us, but peace of mind that we don't need to now find the money to sort our cars out. I'm half relieved and half gutted that we'll miss our week in the sun :(

Hmmm I think something is happening with HSBC, not quite sure what yet though

On checking my internet banking, the Standing order for the loan (that they refuse to cancel) has a next payment due date of Feb 2009. Also my overdraft limit has been reduced from £1500 to £1490 after a 'goodwill gesture' refund of £250 was put on to return it to under the limit. Add in the fact that this morning I received a 'cashcard' from them. Puzzling indeed, I just wish they would default the whole thing if they don't want to accept my CCCS payment

    Can I ask a question

I have my phone call with CCCS on thursday to hopefully arrange a DMP.

When they go through the budget and there is a deficit, do they let you go through and for example take off saving for holidays, clothes, christmas so that you can afford the dmp or do you HAVE to have something for those type of things in the budget?

    Hi megisabel
You need some surplus if you want to go on a DMP. You don't have to put anything down but you must be realistic as you need to be able to stick to the allowances you have made. We haven't put anything for holidays on ours! Is the deficit after credit card and loan patyments have been made? You could try the online debt remedy at www.cccs.co.uk to give you an idea of what cccs will recommend. You do need some surplus available though! :)

  • Hi all...
Am a bit scared and need someone to hold my hand.....
I have been on a DMP for around 2 years now and really struggle each month, I had a car with a 'fixed sum loan agreement' with Santander..
I managed to pay that up to around March (I sold the car last year to pay my rent when I had a few problems - I could do this as not HP) and then I just couldn't afford to anymore.
I then requested that the loan went into my DMP and raised my outgoings to include them.... Hope you are with me so far!
Payplan did this for me and for the last 3 months I have been paying Santander through Payplan...
Now I have to attend court for a hearing after this Tuesday where Santander want to go through my incomings/outgoings etc... I am going to take in my Payplan statement and incomings/outgoings.. but I really dont see the point because I am already in a plan and dont know what they are up to!!

    A quick update from me.

I think most creditors have accepted begrudgingly. Others have been fine to me, around half have defaulted already. So that is all good.

I received a promotion at work (With payrise) as they suddenly realised my jobhunting was serious! So that money will go towards my DMP, and should reduce my 20 year(!) plan down to perhaps 10-12 years.

I've also become an eBay !!!!!! so am selling what I can to raise more funds, and am paying off my other debts (family, friends, Payday loans(Bad bad things)).

Oh, and the phonecalls have stopped for the time being, though my ex-landlady (I lived under her roof 6 years ago) received a phonecall from Abbey trying to get hold of me. I vaguely remember someone on here mentioning this as a crafty tactic used by some companies.

So thanks to all, hello to newbies, and hang in there. The 100 calls a week do stop eventually!

Oh, and I did find that a couple of creditors constantly refuse to acknowlege LOA and Financial statement from PayPlan. Whether that was poor comms on Creditors part, PayPlan, or just incompetence, I'm not too sure.

  • can anyone else confirm that interest was stopped on dpm. Some have stopped interest but others have not and the interest is more than the payment.Very worrying as debt 46,000 keeps going up live alone and really need some moral support.Dmp set up and first payment was september.
