  • Do you think sometimes they are nicer depending how long you've had the credit cards for? I've had some of these cards for years and they've probably made THOUSANDS out of me by now, always paying minimum payments....

Hi, I'm afraid companies don't care how long you've been with them, they can turn nasty at a drop of a hat! I like some others on here are having a problem with Triton Credit Services. They seemed to have been passed my OH Tesco Loan and they ring constantly, along with Tesco's as well. My phone is now on straight to answer phone because I was fed up of it ringing upto 20 times a day. Both companies also ring upto 9 o'clock at night which I think is taking the mickey a bit! They've been sent a letter yesterday recorded delivery to only communicate in writing.

I've also just had my first proper review with CCCS tonight. I started a part time job a few weeks ago so our household income has gone up by £450 a month. I did make the decision to make our budget more comfortable though as 6 months into the dmp the reality of living month to month and having no fall back was horrible. I've now put our grocery/petrol/entertainment budget up and we are paying an extra £120 a month on our dmp which has brought out debt free date forward 7 years plus we get to live a little too.

Good luck everyone starting out, it can be bad the first few months but it does settle down and you feel confident that you've done the right thing. We all want to pay our debts off, not run away from them so we shouldn't feel ashamed at all. There are plenty of people out there that would benefit from a dmp, they just don't want to admit they have money problems.

teehee..heard good things about them though so won't rush to judge too harshly...till they start asking me for ma money!!!!! lol

Hope all new DMPers are sleeping well, and not getting too many menacing robotic phonecalls:D

Surprisingly quiet here, but me thinks it won't be once they all realise they ain't getting paid this month!!!!!!

  • Hi guys new and not so new
** News flash ** Capital One finally cancel my ppi :T after not paying minimum payments for the past three months they decided to cancel the policy. I have wrote to them asking to cancel several times getting really agitated along the way but after being on my DMP they finally cancelled it.

I will admit although I feel stronger every time I visit this site reading up on this and that, this DMP lark is stressing me out and is the main subject of conversation in our house, that is all I ever seem to talk about. It's hard not to let debt problems take over isn't it? I just one night where I don't think about debt. I have more money in my pocket than I ever did and it's so nice not to feel guilty taking money out of the bank for shopping and worrying about overdrafts or counting down the days when I get paid again.

I just want to be me again, the normal everyday working mum not some stress head who eat and sleeps ppi, cca, dca, defaults and ccjs :o

I will be debt free, we all will...........one day ;)

    slightly deranged rant over :p

You are right when you say that debt and thinking about it can take over your life. Its so good to be finally dealing with it but at the beginining of the DMP when letters are coming thick and fast all you seem to do is be on the alert.
It is good to go to the bank and know the money you're getting out is not just adding more to the overdraft. Someone on here recently said that after a few months the DMP payment is just the same as a direct debit for gas or whatever, ie you don't think about it , it's just automatic.

Will always still have to have my daily fix of this site though and especially this thread, and all the lovely supporters on here.:j

lol I was thinking the same ... recorded letters have gone out today, and hopefully they will all also hear from CCCS in the next day or so .. so waiting for the phone to start ringing off the hook - even though I did also enclose a letter with my CCCS form stating that I was formally notifying them I will NOT discuss my account with any representative of their company over the telephone, that all correspondence must be in writing via my designated representatives CCCS, and that if they telephone me that construes harassment and the relevant Financial and Governmental authorities would handle it as such. I just know they're all going to ignore my letter ... :)

I told people that on the phone thanks to the advice on this site , when I was getting plagued with calls a few weeks ago, and for the past week or so the calls have completely stopped. The only one to deny I had the right to do this was Mint but I stuck to my guns and assured her I knew exactly what my rights were and so far no more phone calls.
I think it comes down to just trying to be confident and assertive with them, refusing to go through security questions, quoting your CCCS number and putting the phone down.

  • Or just do what I do, no mobile and all ringers on house phone turned off :-)

Me and the other half both work shifts so really don't want to be woken at strange times.

I never get any calls he he!
