Wow you lot chat far too much on here!! You can tell Big Brother has finished can't you?! :rotfl:
A big hello to all the new faces (or names I should say!) I have been on my DMP since May this year, recently got back together with my partner and so far all is well, had an appointment with CCCS for a review but have had to wait a week or so until the Tax credits office get our claim sorted out. I wish they'd get a move on I got debts to sort out!
Together we have debt totalling 50k (and I'm certainly not bragging at all!) I just want to illustrate to some newbies that there are, and I really don't mean it how it reads but there are people worse off than yourselves but to remember that everyone here understands what it's like to be in the brown stuff so don't feel embarrassed asking what you feel is a daft question, there are loads of people on here with invaluable advice and we will all get through this one day.;)
The only thing I can say is once on a DMP at the start it's like a rollercoaster, you have days where you feel you can fight the world and want to have it out with some cocky idiot on the end of the phone but then other days when you look at the letters being sent you feel really scared and worried.
I think after a review on our joint income and debts we could be looking at ten+ years, scary stuff I know but if I am honest I am more bothered about now, christmas and what offers Tesco have in than in ten years time. Yes we desperately want to pay our debts off but unless we win the lottery then it will be a long time before we are debt free completely.
So far we haven't heard much from our creditors, I changed my phone number as soon as I started my DMP as I just couldn't face the hassle but I have replied to many letters but I have realised they just ignore them and keep sending you bog standard letters from their system.
Some creditors have stopped interest straight away; Barclaycard, MBNA, others (Halifax  ) continue to be pains and charging every item they can think of; late payment fees, overlimit fees and pathetic amounts of interest squashing any DMP payments made. Do these creditors not realise that you are on a DMP to sort yourself out and get out this mess?, they just continue to make it worse and that's really disheartening some days.
But I am biding my time until we get settled and then I will go for them, requesting CCA's, claiming charges and ppi back (other half is self employed)but for now I am just waiting til we know what we have to pay.
Keep your spirits up guys and girls!! and to Rayday, it's about time you had some good luck, you sound like you've had a right rubbish time lately, good to see you back on here though

Couldn't really say it any better then this :A0 -
Toffee Penny! Nice post puts everything into perspective. I hope for you and others if Halifax get taken over that someone pulls them into order. I really think there should be better procedures for defaults and DMPs that would make it fairer for us and the companies it would be nice to see a set route of what happens.
My DMP is something that happens with gas and electric now they get paid every month and every once in a while you look at them to see if they need more or less.0 -

How's it going, have you heard from eeryone, are they going along with the plan or are you having a mixed bag too like me, are you getting lots of phone calls - snotty ones?
Hope we can support each other through this ....Current Debt £16,364 about to settle following pension payout0 -
Hey Folks!
Had my first letter today accepting cccs payment terms, from additions direct catalogue. So thats 3 phonecalls accepting and 1 letter. TBH since I got on the DMP with cccs I have been so less stressed. Got my online saver account linked up to my new bank account, so will transfer what little spare money I have weekly into it. This is for F&F's as they come up.
Started my online shopping with Tesco through mysupermarket.com, OMG the difference in the cost was unbelievable!!! and it steered me to an extra £12 in savings. Got a weeks worth of meals plus tins and cleaning stuff for £76..unheard of. So I am totally chuffed with this, plus I get all my usual tesco discounts and points on card. And not buying crap I don't need while I walk around the supermarket.
Hope you all have a great day
xxLife is full of lessons...wish I had been awake in the one entitled 'Do you really need that stuff?'
