Letter someone requested:
Dear Sir/Madam
Re:- Account/Reference Number xxxxxxxx
We are writing to inform you that we are seeking advice and assistance from the Consumer Credit Counselling Service regarding our current financial difficulties.
We are finding it increasingly difficult to meet your monthly payment request so please accept the enclosed postal order for £?? as a token gesture of goodwill.
We would appreciate if you could hold any action on the above account for a period of at least 28 days.
Also, during this period, could you please freeze interest and/or any other charges accruing on the above account.
We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Yours faithfully

I have had the same nasty letters from HSBC which were followed by deadlines for payments plus further extended deadlines. I then received documents for a managed loan (which I duly ignored as per advice on here and from CCCS) and have this morning received a letter from HSBC asking me to contact my very own dedicated debt counsellor who will "do all I can to help you..." Hmm, I will be interested to see how that works! This letter has been accompanied by a barrage of calls but I have yet to see how my lovely counsellor can help. I will keep you in the loop but for the time being think that maybe the letters are a last ditch attempt to get you to pay.
Thanks will be expecting that attempt next from First direct then. 18 months into the DMP, having just slightly reduced my payments, they have now told me they will charge me 16% interest (whereas they were charging 6% and send me a loan agreement (though not called a managed loan), asking me to make 12 payments of about £100 with the final payment of the balance of the loan (over £5k) Duly filed in the "to shred" pile.
Just waiting for the next installment and hoping they will default me and stop interest since they are the only ones left charging any interest!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
rayday - Apparently Santander(Abbey) buying A&L is likely to go through on October 10th (depending how accurate the report is) according to this: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/International_Business/UKs_Alliance__Leicester_OKs_takeover/articleshow/3490772.cms
But I can't find any confirmation dates of Santander taking over GE Money
Now looks like HBOS and LloydsTSB may merge too. (see my previous post).
So "safe" bank accounts may not be so safe - keep an eye out in case the Terms and conditions changeworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Thanks Claireyfairy, would be interested to see how you get on.
I informed Payplan about the letter and they seem to think this is the last ditched attempt to get more money from me before passing onto DCAs
Will keep you updated

some advice please.
im just about to start a DMP, when i received a letter today from barclays basically saying
"your account is now being closed and will no longer be managed by ourselves and will be referred for recovery action. an agent appointed by the bank will contact you directly to discuss your offer and repayment of your debt"
it was all going too smoothly, so what can i expect over the next few weeks/ months? if people start knocking on the door it could spell big trouble for me and my marriage. i promised that such a thing wouldnt happen. im starting to get a bit worried.
any info gratefully received.0 -
Just wanted to let you know about a conversation I had with MBNA. My and OH Abbey cards are ran by MBNA we have entered into a DMP with CCCS. MBNA told me that the amount we are currently paying is not enought to stop a default and the debt sold on, although they understand our financial situation and have stopped all interest and charges. They told me they can do this for 5 months before defulting and that they just wanted to let us know the amounts we would need to pay to prevent this and that if we were able to increase our amounts they would enter an arrangement to pay on our credit file which MBNA said is far better than a default. Sorry for the ramble but my point is that at least they are giving us 5 months to find our feet with the DMP the lady was really nice and I actually was able to ask a few questions that had been bugging me. Just really wanted to share this for folk who have MBNA as one of their creditors.
On other news by safe account is BOS and I have a credit card with Lloyds. If this merger goes ahead my only saving grace may be the fact lloyds don't seem to have a CCA for this debt. Really don't want to have to find another bank account.February 2013 NSD - 40 -
Our main bank account is with BOS. I have an overdraft with Halifax (prior to their merger with BOS) on my DMP. The only thing that happened was that BOS withdrew our overdraft facility but have never made an issue of the fact that we do bank with them and there can be a lot of money in that account waiting to pay bills etc. Am slightly more concerned now because we have two large credit card debts with Lloyds - I think we will wait and see what happens. If they do anything one month they won't get the chance again. I just feel we could be chasing our tails finding safe banks. We also have our mortgage with Cheltenham & Gloucester who are part of Lloyds. They've got us all ways...0

Hi guys
Posted this on the main board earlier this morning but it's slipped away down the board with no replies, thought I'd copy and paste onto here too. I'd be grateful for any help at all
Just need a bit of help. When we initially sent our paperwork back to cccs at the beginning of the month (all recent statements, wage slips etc), I put the wrong tax credits thing in, it didn't actually say the amount we get. Cccs rang up, pointed out my mistake and asked me to send out the correct bit, which I did almost 2 weeks ago. I've had a letter from them this morning saying they hadn't received it ad assume that if they don't hear from us soon, that we don't want to do it anymore.
I phoned them, they asked if I had sent it to the DMP Processing Team, which I hadn't as no one had told me to. The thing is, argh I'm so stupid, I sent the original one off, not a photocopy and I don't have any other proof to send them. The only thing we have is bank statements and my OH doesn't want to use those as he has his car on finance (he really needs his car as he works 35 miles away, night shift) and didn't wnat to include it in the dmp (is that really wrong?).
Now I just feel really frustrated by it all and in a mess again. I just don't know what to do now. Does anyone have any advice? Please don't shout at me for not including the car, I know it was wrong. Feel so miserable now, prob my hormones aren't helping lol.
Hi, don't worry you don't need to include your car loans as they are essential for you to continue working, most people need a car to get to work to earn the money needed to pay off debts, so they are not included in DMP's as this could jeopordise your income.
I start me CCCS DMP October 2008, and we have 2 car HP/Loans which are not included in the DMP, we will probably pay one of them off before the DMP and the other one just after we've paid everything off. So when the DMP is finished in 6 Years 8 Mths (or less if we can find more money) we will be so much better off and will never get into so much debt again, I will never ever have another credit card again - I would go so far as to say they are EVIL....:eek:Current Debt £16,364 about to settle following pension payout0
