  • Opened a pile of post today.

I will be making my first payment to CCCS next week.

HSBC (2k graduate overdraft) have offered me a loan (groan), that claims it is the same monthly amount as I would be paying via CCCS, (but I'm not silly enough to realise the truth about interest etc). So I don't think HSBC are going to play ball.

Good news though, MBNA, (virgin mastercard) have accepted my DMP instantly, dropped all charges and interest.

    1 down, 3 to go.,

Hi all ... Can I just ask please, I've seen a lot of you mentioning asking for the original CCAs ... could you tell me why? Why do you need these? Just wondered ...

    thanks

    Hi guys. I haven't been around for a while - apologies.:o

I was just wondering about interest. Whilst all of our creditors have been accepting payments from us via CCCS for almost 3 months now, some of them appear to be adding interest which we assume they will want paid at the end of the term. CCCS told us that after 3 months we could ask them to stop charging interest. Do you think they will agree to this?

Also, one of our Lloyds TSB loans has told us they will accept payments for 6 months and then will expect payments to revert to what they were before our payment plan. Realistically will they do this or is it just an empty threat? We have two other Lloyds TSB loans and we have not heard a dickie bird from them, they just seem to have accepted the plan.

Hi Just Me. I have an Overdraft, Loan and CC with TSB and they have accepted all on DMP, we started our DMP in July.

However, they will try everything to get more money. On the overdraft, they removed the overdraft facility and then started charging £90 per month, so I went into the branch and complained and they got removed the charges and added the overdraft back to avoid further charges.

On the CC, they started adding about £15 per month interest, so I rang them to complain and again they have credited it back and will not add any in the future  :j :j

I think you just need to nag alittle. I wouldn't worry about the 6 months, once they see you have made 6 continual payments it should keep them quiet.

Hi All - As I've said before - due to start my DMP on 1st October.
Right now I'm emptying out my filing cabinet, shredder athe ready, in front of this huge pile of correspondence from creditors.
What do I need to keep, what can I throw?

    Thanks

Apparently if they can't produce a copy of the CCA properly signed by both parties then they aren't meant to be able to take you to court for the debt.

I took the opinion that I know I borrowed the money so should pay it anyway, whether or not there is a CCA but for the creditor who caused me loads of hassle I requested it - they couldn't provide it but then they magically found my "lost" DMP payments which meant it was paid off anyway.

    I'd keep EVERYTHING.

Although half the letters might be full of bull**** and not nice, you will have a record of every point of contact, and if you need to quote anything later, like you want to write to them telling them not to harrass you, you have proof. But i'm not an expert, so if anyone else thinks differently, then please say so

  • I'm always nagging my OH about not taking letters out of envelopes. He opens them, but chucks them in a heap. This means the pile of paper work is higher/bigger. By opening them, unfolding them and chucking out the payment envelopes and glossy leaflets, the pile shrinks.

I am such a nerd when it comes to organising my paperwork. I used to hide my unopened letters under carpets and in other random places. But I am reformed. I have seen the light. Nuts

Thanks for that, JES F1, I have drafted something similar so I will also add the Payplan phone number to it. I must have sent off almost every standard letter I can find to these two creditors now so I'm wondering whether I can start to charge them every time I have to send out a duplicate letter ;)

It's been very tempting to add a sentence to the effect that having to remind them yet again about my DMP, I will expect £25 deducted from my account immediately ;)

I've kept all the correspondence that I've received from creditors. I've got a big file that I started at the beginning of my DMP, separated into a section for each creditor plus another section for CCCS stuff. I keep all the statements (starting with the ones I sent to the CCCS) on here too.

While most of the letters contain complete tosh, it's been very handy to see how the dates of their letters tie in with ones from me and the CCCS. And though everything is going fine at the mo, it might all come in very handy if things go pearshaped at any point!
