Jes F1 -Best wishes on your DMP. I too had a lot of trouble with Nationwide building Society and their in house collection team KPR. I have never came across a crowd of more unhelpful people in my life. On their website it shows these young, positive, focussed young staff saying what satisfaction it is to help people with their money problems and how rewarding. Yeah rewarding in thier own bonuses. In all my dealingswith them on the phone they just didn,t care about my problems and ignored my DMP. I cringe ever time their silly ads come on tv.They are a nightmare.

I actually found out about the CCCS from the Nationwide's web site so I was really annoyed that they only accepted the DMP for three months (extremely reluctantly) and have subsequently rejected it. My feelings about some of the staff who have called me just isn't printable! At best, I've found them condescending, and at worst, incredibly intimidating. However, thanks to the great advice on this forum, I no longer feel fazed by calls and letters!

    Well done JES-FI

it looks like you have come quite a way down the route.

as i do my own dmp like some others here, could i clarify please, the debts you are paying are now without any charges and interest and thus the plan with cccs says this to you? Also the date you have been given is for what you have to pay every month until that date?

So in theory if you came say into some money could you still be able to offer any full and final settlements as they could be lower? or are you now stuck into this arrangement with cccs?

many thanks if you can assist me i would appreciate it

ta have fun ciao for now MAZ

    Hello!

Yes, all creditors have stopped interest and charges - except Nationwide who started again after the initial agreed three months as they've now rejected the proposal. I'm considering claiming these back - the CCCS has suggested it.

My debt-free date is based on my current monthly payment and assuming creditors continue to freeze interest and charges. I had my first review with the CCCS less than six months into the DMP - I think this was because I set it up through their online debt remedy rather than over the phone or in person. We rejigged some of the figures on my budget but I am still paying the same amount. Future reviews may of course mean I pay more (or less) depending on whether anything has changed.

It will still be possible to do some full and final settlements, should I be lucky enough to come into some money! At the mo, anything extra I make (from selling stuff) is going towards Christmas but after that anything I make (and is left over from Christmas), I'm going to save until I've got enough to go down the full and final route - or see what other options there are.

    V many thanks

  • Hi all,

Just wanted to know if anyone has been successful in reclaiming any sort of charges whilst on a DMP, and if so, has it had any effect on it? Basically I mean, did the creditors continue with the DMP payments or did they get narked and start to rock the boat?

    Ta.

    Ta.

A few people have started to claim charges back. I have claimed a few back but not the formal route with template letters mine was more as a complaints at how treated and that was the end result interest back.

My take on it is to wait until everyone has nicely settled and its been running a while and then go for it. Its one of the reasons I tell new people to DMPs to ignore the interest going on its not a snowballing exercise anymore its a DMP and you can get it back. Even if a company never refunds it you could use the interest added as a bargaining tool for settlement offers much later down the road.

I thought I had better post here as you all heard me whinning on Friday. I had a meeting with the Headmaster at the school today and they are wanting me to work one to one with a little boy.

They are taking me on more for my experience in behavioural management and special needs understanding.

Now this is yet again where you think, gowd Rayday now I see why you are in financial poo! I have no idea if its paid but I assume it is because he said he would get the secretary to sort a contract out. I didn't want to push the pay side as being a Governor for SENCO I was more for getting support for the boy so didn't want to look like it was all for me if you get me.

Anyway hopefully it is paid sure it will be there are so many professionals from the county involved. Its still not as ideal as receiving child support as the tax credit people and tax will take a slice but its helping. Should imagine it will be temporary too and if I prove successful I will be out a job lol. But thats life for us all swings and roundabouts.

I am seriously going to monitor spending anyway, and at least 5 afternoons a week I will be too busy to spend, not in the house to run bills up blah blah blah

Just look at it as helping the kid out and helping out your CV too for future ;) If you're successful it may help you to get similar work in other schools etc.

Hope you get the contract soon so you know where you stand.

Hope all goes well (and that you're paid more than you're expecting) ;)

Thats exactly the way I look at it, and to be honest I feel a bit of a buzz at the thought of being a step nearer to working in a school. Its weird more than twice the hours I work now but will have less impact on my children than my job does now.

Thanks newlywed for all your practical support last week I have that link saved and to be honest with the rising prices of food it is something I am going to seriously think about, the less I spend on food the more luxuries we can have.

This is another good thread about living for 50p per person per day.
Lots of cheap recipe ideas on there, including cakes and things for the kids ;)

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1157641

I found by costing out some of the main meals we have, made a difference last month - I added in extra of the cheapest meals and worked out that roast chicken wasn't as expensive as I thought as it made so many meals.

50p a day, now there's a challenge! Me, I need to find a "feeding a vegetarian toddler on very little a day" thread .. :)

Great news Ray, as one who has had constant dealings with a psychologically-damaged child (my stepdaughter) for the past 8.5 years and struggled like heck to get any kind of support for her (or us!) you are doing what I consider to be an extremely valuable job. Well done you, and if I had my way, people like you would be paid handsomely - it's not an easy job, and we need more people like you!!
