    Not happy there's no smilies!

Maz1964 - not at all. I can see how my comments might have looked. I was having a 'proud to be dealing with my debt' moment!

The only reason CCCS need to know about a bank account is the one to set up your DMP direct debit from. If you add an overdraft as one of your creditors then yes, CCCS will need to have details of that account so don't worry about this old one.

Thanks - there is no overdraft facility on that account, and it's not with a bank that is one of my creditors (or linked, thankfully). I'm not in any way worried about him messing with my creditworthiness (apart from the fact that once the DMP kicks in I HAVE no creditworthiness anymore anyway!) .. he's one of those people who would never get into debt if you paid him to! And while we are friends, and speak daily (since my 20 month old daughter is his daughter too), still no, there will be no talking to him about my finances. I have had way too much aggresssively holier-than-thou lectures from him on my finances over the years, friends though we may be he is not the understanding type!

I'm sure if you are going for a DMP that you can't have a current account and it is a breach of your agreement if you take on any more credit. If the account is still in your name and it goes overdrawn (whether your fault or not) you would be in breach of your DMP and it could be cancelled. I think this seems to be what I have read and been told.

eeek. I dmp'd my hsbc student o/d, and took out an alliance and leicester premier direct account, with a £450 o/d.

I understand that they could ask me to repay the 450 at any time, so I'm going to try and prepare for that. Lets hope it doesn't all go boobs up. ummmm.

If I wasn't in such a mess, my OH and I could be living together in our own house. Well, ok, not right now with the situation, but at least we would know it could have been an option.

Most of his debts are finance and loans/ HP over a maximum of 5 years...

All these things add up and cause stress, hoping that once the larger ones paid we can just rid of the smaller ones in lumps, maybe before if there's any cash spare.

I could smack myself for it all!

tressls - I know the feeling, I blame myself for my husbands' debt (which is much higher than mine, but largely down to me). I have to say- get him on his own DMP! Hubby is two years into his, and it is so great to see the figures go down every month on the statement from cccs, and on the statements from the companies. :) the sooner he contacts them too, the better.

Just to say - I really don't recall being told that you can't have a current account while being on a dmp.

If anything, I'm sure I (and hubby) were told to open 'other' current accounts so's to stop using the debt laden ones. There are loads of basic bank accounts available now, and a lot of them even come with debit cards. We opened an account with bank of scotland, and I have an account with RBS, and Nat West. All perfectly ticketyboo! :)
