Lloyds agreed to my payments but continue to charge interest.

FD did reduce interest to 6.2% but have just written to me saying that I will be charged 16% interest BACKDATED to 11 August :mad: Funnily enough I got that letter two days after the sign this loan that is £100 for 12 months then £5k for the final payment

All because I asked for a DMP review and reduced my payments due to increased fuel and food costs. If petrol has gone up by £50 a month over the last year, food had gone up by about £50 a month and gas and electric combined have gone up by 30% in just the last month - where on earth do they expect me to get the extra money for those?

Just hoping they will default me soon and stop interest completely.

Hey guys ... Am I allowed to post a link to a post on another "Dealing with Debt" board? I just came across a great post advising how to deal with hassling creditors ... I know there have been great posts here too, but I thought this one might be worth people reading too? I am finding useful stuff in there, so hopefully it might help someone else as well!

If I'm allowed the post is at http://boards.fool.co.uk/Message.asp?mid=9708407

    If I'm not allowed, sorry .. :)

Hi everyone, hope you are all well.

I had some good news to share this week, I have sold my camera for £339 & a lense for £78 so thats £417, my first DMP payment of £427 due 1st October so thats the first payment covered LOL, only another 80 payments left to go... or should i put it into a savings account & build up a buffer zone.

I am putting everthing I can up for sale, it will all help I hope.

    thanks

My letter to Lloyds I would gladly PM you but it went on a bit about how badly they had treated us etc so not sure how much it would help. I shall try to find it and re-read it and if its any good PM it to you.

Post whatever links you want here - especially ones like that.

    Newbies should read this one.
  • hiya everyone , newbie on this thread but not on the board

im due to start DMP in october and have just received a latest statement from abbey, and the interest is still the same ie. + £189 for last month.

is this normal at this stage? by this stage i mean before the DMP has started

the interest alone on that card is more than what i am offering to pay them and therefore i would be getting nowhere with the debt.

    Hi riquelme.

They don't usually stop interest until a couple of months into the DMP. They often want to see the actual payments via the DMP to make sure you are serious ;)

Mint took 4 months of DMP payments to stop interest I think. So give it a bit of time and don't panic yet ;)

  • Hiya all

    glad you are back tressls

ive printed off this link on the fool co uk,,,its fab, got it near my pc and phone

    did someone mention lloyds???

i must share with you what happened to me earlier today, went into lloyds branch to pay my credit card payment, the cashier was a little while checking out my account on screen, suddenly she got up and said, oh you are paying lots of interest and charges i will try to get us to save you money, without waiting for me to answer she was off, people behind me in the line looked at me, as the cashier had gone off to find someone with my credit card statement in her hand, it did look odd. I was feeling quite embarrrased as she darted from one section of the office to another then finally about nearly 5 mins came to me at the cashier till and gestured for me to follow her and that i was to go into an office and someone was waiting for me with my credit card statement on her desk, all the time others were staring at me, i felt like id been caught in a fraud act or something, so i said the the women in the office, "i really dont know why im here, no one asked me if it was convenient" with which she didnt even answer me picked up my statement and handed it to me and i said thank you and walked off,

i was on my way to the gym, but i was livid when i realised i was being set up for a hard sell of something, and i will be now calling lloyds credit card to complain, as clearly there was something on the screen that made the cashier do what she did

if this is one way of getting new sales accosting people, its not good guys,

so beware - however, im a reasonable person, had she communicated with me that if it was convenient for me at the moment they would like to talk to me to save me money on my account, i would have said of course i could come back after my gym session, but they just assumed and presumed to usher me in a office and get on with it, , No way,

so off to make the phone call and let you know laters,

i might need one of your good letters rayday LOL

    laters ciao maz

Down to earth with a bang!

Sorry I am picking on you all again, I have been quiet because possibly something good has been developing. You know how I am on my months notice giving up my job and it will be a aqueeze? Well there have been some emergency meetings at the school and I could have talked myself into working afternoons one to one with a child with special needs. They definately want me its just if they are paying me, but so many top people are involved from the County Council it would almost certainly have to be paid.

So you can imagine my dream of working in a school could be within a grasp and I have dare not say much in case it went pants up!

Anyway this morning had a meeting and we are a step closer could be getting there, then my ex visits me.

Turns out he has been on the sick since Monday, and he can't work (any long termers will remember he had an accident last year) I know its genuine but it means the small amount of maintenace he paid will now be gone.

Just to rub it in though he pointed out he would now have to get his Wolf bass for his girlfriend from Netto, and they are still going to the St Ledger by limo tomorrow as they paid the £140, and they may have to cancel plans of Centre Parcs - here I am seriously now having to half my shopping budget to feed his children and stop all entertainment while they have there £20 of wine a week and a life!

Grrr I am so upset and I can't get hold of my hubby and just don't know what to do. :(

Rayday - if he was on benefits etc, CSA would still make him pay £5 a week - not much but it's something????

There's a good thread on OS : £20 to feed family of four for a month? http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1129333

Might give you an idea or two?
