Yes, but there's a vast difference between the free TMC updates and the ones that arrive by GPRS on the subscription (which are the ones that use mobile phone tracking to collect traffic speeds). I think it has to say Tomtom 'Live' then you know the subscription feature is possible.

Are there any other good livupdate type services available?

I think Tomtom has cracked this, with the Live service you also get the ability to Google for any nearby business by type or name and it will navigate you straight there.

Price drop spotted today, Halfords appear to be offering Tomtom XL LIVE UK for £150 and LIVE + UK + ROI + Europe for £180 and a half price subscription to the Live service.

XL appears to be the base version, are they any catches compared with GO version?

Motorcycle satnavs need to be waterproof.

Best idea might be a tankbag with clear map holder and put the satnav in there. It is unlikely you will be doing much button pressing on the bike so just look before the junction or pull up and look ahead as neeeded.
  • I think I have found the cheapest ever!!
Binatone B350 Sat Nav with UK and Ireland Maps £34.99
and for those who go abroad:
Binatone B350 Sat Nav with UK, Ireland and European Maps only £39.99
    Can anyone beat that?
Oh you need to go to the Maplin Electronics online site for it, not sure if they have them in store I checked the local ones to me and no-one had it.
    GP.

Hmm, getting to the point where a satnav with maps built in costs less than a set of paper maps covering a certain area e.g. Europe!
