I just got a Garmin Nuvi 265 (a Best Buy on Which.co.uk) for £50 at Asda. It's about £90-100 everywhere else.

Not given it a real test yet but I plugged it in in Asda car park, found a satellite and programmed my way home in less than a minute. Very easy to use and looks like a good buy so far. Even got European maps too!

Hi, I have TomTom on SD card and was wondering what's the cheapest GPS-ready device to use it on. I have an old iMate PDA-N which has just died on me after years of good service. I'm considering looking up eBay for a replacement but would prefer something new which would come with a warranty. cheers

Would have got one for self to replace my 5 year old Tomtom 300 but am grounded from the gadget shop at the mo!

This site lists the prices and highlights the best deals for various TomTom devices at major UK retailers - http://www.find-tomtom-deals.co.uk/. When you find a deal you like, rather than clicking straight through, see if you can grab some cash back through TopCashBack or a similar site.

Reading thru the Amazon reviews, it turns out that if you ever want to install full European maps, the on-board memory is not enough so some fiddly upgrading / reinstalling is needed which turns out to out to be an unreliable process. So if you want UK only the cheap models above should be fine. I'm going to wait till I can afford the 1000 as it's the only model with enough on-board ram for Europe (4 GB).
