  • I have a tom ton one with european maps. When I visited USA recently, I obviously wanted to use my tom tom with american maps. Downloading from the website to my computer and then onto my tom tom was relatively simple. However as the tom tom has 2gig of memory and the USA maps require 2 gigs to store them you have to save the european maps onto your computer before you can install the USA maps onto your tomtom. Technically this is quite simple but the practical problem is that you cant use your tomtom to direct to the airport and back home again. Has anyone else found this irritating or am I missing a trick. Or do I have to buy a satnav that works from a memory card?

Hi - hope someone can help. I see the ebuyer satnav is no longer avalable but it is the Navigo satnavs which are upgradable to use TomTom and the like. I just wanted to hear whether people thought the WH Smith one is still a good buy:

    http://www.whsmith.co.uk/CatalogAndSearch/ProductDetails-Navigo+Sat+Nav-33533551.html

or to go for the latest Ebuyer one:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/146673

or even a Navigo one off Ebay (Version 3):

If someone could point me in the direction of which is best, that would be great. I am not too fussed about the MP3/MP4 stuff and video because I have a laptop for that, and all I really would like it for is to help me get around the country for cheap. If there is a better alternative satnav which is upgradable (e.g. a widescreen version with traffic updates) could someone point me to that instead? Thanks!

V3 was thinner but battery lifes better on the V2 (which I have) so the WH smiths one is a good buy (use collect at Store to save postage)

  • Cheers mate - I've just ordered the V2 from WHSmiths. Haven't shopped there for years! I think Friday evening is going to be spent installing software and maps etc... :)

For anyone with an Iphone I can recommend Co-Pilot, only £25.99 and it's judged better than Tom Tom by quite a few reviews.
A problem shared is a problem multiplied. :o
  • best deals for sat nav go to handtec.co.uk top guys and service is second to none
  • That Navigo V2 is an absolute bargain. Even my partner who scorned when I told her I had bought a sat nav loves it. Comes highly recommended for those who wish to evaluate TomTom, iGO and other software :)

Just bought the TomTom One IQ Routes edt from Asda in store for £80. Curry's price is £149.99. I could have gone to currys to tell them about the Asda deal to price match and get another 10% off, but it was too much of a faff!!
I got to know about this great nationwide Asda deal from the hotukdeals website.

Asda probably won't stiff you if your TomTom goes wrong like Curry's would

  • Does any1 know where I can buy a cheap but decent sat-nav with lane assistance?
My advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.
