Tom Toms are easiest to use , easy menus and look to them

My old Tomtom GO from 4 or 5 years ago is still going strong, it's old fat design means no-one would want to nick it! Would replace with another Tomtom one day but now the choice of this brand is bewildering - various eco-route planning options or realtime traffic avoidance based on date and time or live traffic info... then there's European maps and whether hard drive or flash memory... which model to buy would stump me.0

Well I'm really glad I read this thread as I was just considering buying the My Guide Sat Nav so I've decided against that now. I want a Sat Nav that is relatively cheap and has good maps with speed camera detection that is easy to use.

Hi there
Don't know if this is the right place to post this, please move if it's not the right area. I bought a "TomTomSE_V4 # - Our Best selling Tom Tom ONE LEv4 Sat Nav with Postcode Entry" from Tier1 online. I assumed it was the latest edition from TomTom. When I received it, I didn't really pay much attention and began using it straight away. However recently it has started to lose signal and I therefore went on the net to see what the possible problem could be.
When I started searching, I realised that I hadn't been sent the latest version at all. I emailed Tier 1 online to say that I hadn't been given the correct product, and that I was having problems losing signal. They replied that I'm now out of the 90 warranty period (I bought it 5 May 2009). They also said that it IS a version 4. But but the Tomtom 2nd Edition v4!!!
Here's a copy of their email:
Hi,
Thanks for your email.
We can confirm that the model you have received is the same model as the one you purchased. There are many varieties of the TomTom V4 - the one you have purchased from us was TomTom Second Edition Version 4.
Another variety of the TomTom V4 is with the easyport mount, which is not the model which you purchased.
As the item was delivered in early May, the 90 day warranty on this item has expired. Therefore please call TomTom on 0845 161 0009.
Kind regards,
Tier 1 Online
Am I right to feel completely cheated? Nowhere in the description (which is no longer available) did it say that it was the 2nd Edition, just that it was v4. I know I was silly not to check for 3 months, but I never expected I would not be sent the correct product. Does anyone have any advice/opinion? If was my own fault, I'll accept that but would anyone else believe that v4 meant the latest version?
Thanks for your help

Did you mean to buy a secondhand TomTom, because the new ones should come with a 1 year warranty.
edit : Looking at their site they appear to only sell refurbished and older goods, so you might be stuck.
Have you tried using the TomTom Home software to makesure the software on your unit is fully upto date?
The updated software might improve the performance of the unit.
You are probably stuck with the unit unless you can show that you have been deceived in some way, as the units are refurbished it might be hard to argue that you expected the absolute latest unit. Take a look what the order confirmation emails say you have bought as well.0
