I have been debating with myself just what to say here.
Thanks for all of the good wishes, and enquiries as to my wear abouts.

I have been busy with my mum being here, and also doing more volunteering than normal as they have SO much stuff to sort.

This is going to be a bit random so here goes.

Christmas was ok. Luckily the boys weren't too disapointed with some of their presents, and were well chuffed with others so all good in that respect. As I hadn't done any cards (or even sent of presents before the 24th oops), I was able to say thank you for their money off relatives so that was good. Though lets the boys off the hook so maybe not so good.

DS1 has made a big purchase, we now have a set of drums (digital ones that mean he can plug headphones in them, and we can't hear). Course now the trick is to get him to practice.... Haven't been trying very hard to do that. But he will have to start soon.

We were going to keep him going with lessons over the holidays (6 weeks here remember). But of course it fell to me to organise them, I couldn't be arsed, OH hasn't taken up the slack or even noticed, so they didn't get booked. Very tired of it always being my sodding job.

I have managed not to totally lose my rag with my mum. Though apparently I have been sharp with her a couple of times cos OH has pulled me up on it. But I only raised my voice cos she can't flipping hear me. Apparentely she has had a hearing test, but didn't tell me what the result was... Still she is going again on the 23rd. The sad thing all I feel is relief. I am not sad at her going at all. She is 77 now and I know I should worry that this time will be the last time, even though she is very healthy, but still. Sigh. Very complicated. And she hovers. Bigger sigh.

Boys are fine, thank heavens. We finally have got some help to get DS2 dry at night. It is a mat thing that sounds a bell when it gets wet. A bit pavlovian, but it seems to be having an effect. 12 nights with no wet bed, is a dream. He has to get to 14 before we can go onto the next stage so fingers crossed. He will be absolutely devastated if he has a wet now, as we have to go back to day 1 again if he does. So praying it works. More later.,

    Hi Chev, welcome back :)

You sound a bit weary with it all, but hopefully that will change after 23rd when your mum goes back. I love my mum to bits, but I really don't think I could cope with her staying here for weeks on end, so if you've managed to keep it to 'a bit sharp' that's a success in my book!

You've not mentioned how the holiday plans are progressing, but you've likely been too busy coping with Christmas and your mum.

Congrats to DS2 on staying dry, hope it keeps up.

Looking forward to a proper update when you feel up to it x

    Hi Chevalier

Haven't lurked for ages but just wanted to say hi but also that my DD2 managed 12 dry nights before having a wet one ( the alarm worked well but it conked out before Xmas and they are so expensive and I was so annoyed as it was only about 8 weeks old) and yes she was devastated...but back on track again. Have been on hols ( yes to your lovely country) and she was wet every night..but last night she was dry... Just woke up and went.

So fingers crossed for your DS and my DD.. she has school camp in a couple of months and would love to be dry for that.

So i email this to OH, to avoid the explosion about the holiday for the wedding.
    How many days

Day travelling there and back 2 days
    day with my sis
    day with my aunty
day with my mum ( and hopefully that family if they can make it over from w/r)
2 days travelling to the wedding and 2 back 4 days and this is assuming we come back via france rather than on the santander ferry. would rather take 3 days each way.
day sorting out wedding clothes/clothes shopping generally
arrive day before the wedding day of the wedding day after the wedding leave on the monday 3 days
    legoland 1 day
sorting out passports (boys ones will be nearly out by then? can't remember./other paperwork

total 15 days and you don't want to rush about.......
this allows no time to recover from jet lag either. We would be basket cases by the end of the holiday. It would be nice to stay in Spain for extra days so the boys could actually SEE some of the place rather than just the wedding venue.

this allows no time to allow for delays in the planes or in our own travelling. it allows no time to spend time with people other than family eg x and y in france, z and co in such and such a place.

So this is my musings so far.

SIL asked me again this morning if we had booked flights yet.

I have sent this as an email, as we seem incapable of discussing this without an argument. In fact that seems to be an issue with you at the moment. I bring something up that is important to me, and you get angry. Eg going back to college. This holiday. yada yada yada. It is pretty worrying to be honest. I may have missed the enrollment for the environmental science course this term, as I was too worried to bring it up with you again.....

I just get back 'sigh we will 'chat' about it after you mum has gone back.

No reasoned arguement as to why we shouldn't. No apologies for what i have said about WHY I haven't wanted to talk to him. Wonderful. I feel so much better now.

In truth I have been looking at other peoples diaries. They are full of hope for the next year. paying down debts, getting sorted etc.

All I see is that I STILL don't have a job, still not enrolled in education to get a job, still have no friends here and STILL WANT TO GO HOME. This is at the ROOT of everything else.

So I am STUCK and every which way to get myself unstuck seems to involve a MAJOR fall out with OH. Not sure what this indicates, but it can't be good can it? That he can't see that.

Feel better about telling him and worse about being stuck here.

Ok let's be clinical here, there is lots of positive here.

You have actually started the process of talking to DH.
You have been clear about the timelines for holiday
You are becoming clearer in your own mind about what you need to do.

    So lets be a bit more honest;
with your mum being there means it is probably a bit stressful for you all so he might have a reasonable point in not opening this up for discussion right now? Could be a good thing to not have a House guest when that starts?

Why haven't you just enrolled on the course you wAnted? 'Scuze my ignorance but would you have made a decision like the in the UK? What's changed?

You do not need to argue with DH you could work out what you will do to make your life there happier, tell him and then crack on and do it ! Then you can review sagy if it makes a difference and if not take it from there

    Easy to write

    Doable certainly but not easy

Sorry if this is rude or harsh but there IS positive here x
